What are some examples of the biggest Wrestlemania demotions, for example being so high up the card one year and being in a low level match the following.
First one coming to mind is Randy Savage from WM 5 to WM 6, while the mixed tag match was still heavily built on the card and had Dusty Rhodes (former NWA Champion) in it, it was quite a demotion from being WWF Champion and top heel the year before.

I'm not sure it gets lower than ME-ing WM2 in a cage match with Hulk Hogan to one of the openers of WM3 in a 6 man tag with Hillbilly Jim and Midgets.

I can think of three.
1. The Miz went from retaining the WWE title at 27 to barely making the card at 28 on a multi person Team match. Yes his team one but wasn't close to the ME.
2. Big Show went from Main Eventing WM 16 in the WWE title match. Two second match on the card for the Hardcore title.
3. Austin MEed Wrestlemania 17 with the Rock. To facing Scott Hall midcard.

I can't remember where the Miz was after WM27, but he took a pretty steep plunge that he's never quite recovered from.
Of course, Roddy Piper fell from main event in WM1 to boxing Mr. T in WM2.
King Kong Bundy main evented WM 2 and was stuck with Hillbilly Jim and midgets in WM3.

Jack Swagger gets a World Championship match at WM29. The following year, he doesn't even make the Wrestlemania 30 card.

What about from Wrestlemania to the following ppv? Big Show main evented Wrestlemania 16 for the WWF Championship At backlash 2000 the following month...he would be facing kurt angle....dressed as hulk hogan, well I guess at least he won lol.

Orton went from main eventing a landmark wrestlemania to a pointless undercard triple threat Most of Orton's Mania PPV appearances are forgettable IMO, the first two were big (Rock, Foley and Taker) after that you have a couple of forgettable Triple Threats, possibly a MITB appearance? Im sure he faced HHH for the 7 millionth time at some point maybe? All just forgettable to me. Anyways, yes Bundy is a great (and possibly the best) example.

Lex Luger: from being a top face & wrestling for the title at WM10, to being in the curtain-jerker opening match at WM11 with Bulldog vs. the Grimm Blu Brother Twins.

What is worse, the fact he'd fallen so far in the space of a year saw him being rejected initially from Team Johnny; he wasn't thrown on 'til a week or two before WM itself.

Sid Justice.
Main event of WrestleMania VIII.
Not even in the company at WrestleMania IX.
Same for him from 13 to 14.

How about Sgt. Slaughter going from the main event at 7 to a meaningless eight man tag at 8 that is only notable for Ray Combs introductions. In fact none of the face team even got proper introductions.

Ted DiBiase was involved in the title match at WrestleMania IV, but at WrestleMania V found himself going to a double count-out with Brutus Beefcake in the third match of the night.

I think with the proper storyline, Orndorff and Muraco could have been better but it wound up being Muraco, as a second banana, helping Bundy in his Hogan "pearl harbor" and since Orndorff was Hogan's friend, he was in the role. I think as a heel, Orndorff did his best work and is deserving of a better place in WWF history.
I wonder what the introductions were like at the WrestleMania VIII 8 man tag. I'm guessing the heels came out to the Nasty Boys music and faces came out to Duggan's music. But it would be interesting if they came out to individual music like Survivor Series.

This is the winner if only because in the Miz' example he bought this up onscreen when pleading to get on the card. I guess Yokozuna going from having the title at WM 10 to being with Owen for that tag team title match at WM 11 counts.
