It's been several months and we still haven't heard anything about Spike renewing Impact. So it's time to gauge the F.A.N.'s optimism to see if anyone thinks Spike TV is going to give TNA another chance.

I think it all comes down to the next few weeks, if the upswing in ratings can be kept up. Though either way I think if by this time next month they haven't announced anything, TNA's dead.

Even with the lower ratings it still does well for Spike so yeah I think so.

I feel like they will.
As was stated, if they don't though, it's the end.

It boils down to this: what else are they gonna put in that timeslot? They want to keep the wrestling demographic to pair with the MMA demo and pull in both. WWE just sorted their TV deal, they aren't going anywhere. Part of Jarrett's departure was an agreement that he not bring GFW to Spike.
If Ring of Honor was looking for a new home and could strike a deal with Spike, I'd say TNA should be worried, but I don't see them getting cancelled without something else being groomed to take over it's time slot.

I can't imagine they won't.
Whether or not they negotiate for smaller rights fees is up for debate.

It's Spike's highest rated show.
Since they lost the UFC they've really only been able to rely on TNA

It's not their highest rated, but it is one of their bigger ratings-getters.
Original programming does matter, not just reruns and syndication, so it's a good thing to have for their portfolios, so to speak. That's part of why TBS has original shows, when they could just as easily put nothing but reruns on there.

Isn't it getting beaten by Cops reruns? I doubt they'd renew that.

It's Spike's highest rated show. It's not; it routinely gets beaten by both old episodes of COPS and new episodes of Ink Master. At best it's #3, and even then that ranking changes from week to week.

Yes. It's cheap, it does okay for them ratings wise and they do whatever Spike ask of them. When Spike ask TNA to jump, they ask 'How high?', as opposed to the WWE who'd just look at them like they're stupid then make an angle out of their refusal to jump. Spike/Viacom are invested in Bellator, who are the biggest threat to TNA over the long term, but they're not doing the same ratings as Impact yet and they're spending a lot more to get those eyeballs to boot.
Now, I don't think they'll get luxuries this time around, if TNA want a guy like Angle, they'll have to oay for him themselves, which may actually help the overall product as TNA will be forced to make new stars.

Why pay for new programming when your reruns of other shit do better numbers? For one thing, it isn't free. They're still paying the syndication rights. There are also probably stipulations as to how often they can show it. You also risk burning people out on it. Beyond that, you can basically write off your network as a deadzone for people if you don't also have original programming. You can only squeeze so much out of "Like, all the Star Wars today" before people see you have pretty much nothing going on.

Why pay for new programming when your reruns of other shit do better numbers? Diminishing returns, reruns lose their value after the catalogue has been played through a few times and becoming known as the rerun channel would be death for a channel like Spike that imagines itself as having a broad appeal.

I could understand that if Impact was you know, in the middle of the ratings or 4th or 5th or something, but if it's actually dead last on their board? I'm not saying they would just replace Impact with reruns, but you could probably find other, more profitable programming out there.
