Pretty decent show, don't really care for ECW nostalgia in 2014 though, it's over, guys. It's over.

Watching now. Don't mind the ECW stuff since that is what the majority of those these people loved about wrestling. Using it to draw parallels to what they are hoping to do while popping the crowd makes sense. Taz and Tenay were actually good together tonight.
Love the stripped down look. No DixieTron and no fancy lights, just a ramp and a ring surrounded by people. Lot more of a wrestling feel compared to a TV show feel.
ECIII is amazing. The tag match, not so much.
X Division gauntlet was alright but nothing amazing.
The Storm/Sanada stuff is odd. Storm/Muta is going to be a weird match.
MVP and King v. Team Canada was shit but that is par for the course when it involves King and MVP.
Rayne and Britney tried but it wasn't worth a flip.
Lashley v. Hardy was awesome. I feel for Hardy though, he's going too hard.
Got the final promo now but am not expecting much. Rhino's nose is almost as crooked as Anthony Munoz' pinky. Dixie and Spud's reaction to ECIII getting tabled was great.
Can see why the first night (this episode and next) were called the weakest of the three nights.

The thing is I don't mind a nostalgia shows that much but not one that is only about ECW, given that you know it's a show booked by another company. When you do big shows in a particular city you can add a few nostalgia act representing the city's wrestling past. Sure you can touch upon ECW but you could also have say...Bruno Samartino as special color guy for a match. You can have Snuka do something and so forth.

Just got done watching the show, and I think I'll be sticking with it this time 'round. I didn't like how the first half hour or so was "hey, everybody, remember how ECW was a thing?!", but other than that I really enjoyed the show.
This Crazy Steve guy... is he a regular? Because, while I was f***ing confused as to what I was seeing, I am 100% on board with Crazy Steve.

Rebel joined by The Freak (Rob Terry in a mask). They are there to make money to support Knux's father's carnival which is hurting because everything is broken and Knux took the only people that worked there to TNA.

I heard they might have ditched the stilt walkers after one slipped and cracked his skull at the tapings before these. Not sure on that though.

OK, I've started watching the show, and I have to say, Tommy Dreamer's pants are the absolute least "hardcore" thing I could imagine.
Nothing says ECW more than the f***ing Twitter bird.
Jeff Hardy comes into the building wearing a Willow shirt, after months of Willow wearing a Jeff Hardy t-shirt. Hahahahahaha.
"Nobody has the X-Division athletes! We do!" -- Taz. Like AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley. On the bright side, I do like having one of these Gauntlets because they used to run these back when those guys were on the roster.
I'm sure all those arenas that hosted Basebrawl events loved Taz's comments on baseball during the Team Canada vs. Nation of Domination match.
OK, why the hell would you put on this Hardy vs. Lashley main event match, have Hardy do that STUPID stair spot, but it doesn't end the show? Yeah, Dixie Carter promo is more important than the World title and a couple years of Jeff Hardy's health.

Should've went-out with the very solid main-event match rather than the tables deal and they went a little overboard to kiss-up at the beginning but overall it was a good show. EC3 was gold at the start of the show.

At what point does Kurt don blackface to try and join MVP's group? Give it a few weeks.

Lashley and Hardy definitely put on a good match. It should have ended the show, but the Bully/Dixie feud is their top priority right now for obvious reasons (Dixie running the company being the main one).
I have to say, Lashley might be the best booked wrestler in either company right now. Silent ass kicking heel who can win matches clean as a sheet. Even Lesnar needs help to win in the WWE's world. Refreshing to see a heel booked like this. It will make his inevitable title loss actually mean something.

Whilst the opening of the show seemed to have been a bit of a safety precaution to get fans onside (suck up to them, less likely to jeer etc) I actually felt like the show was solid, some interesting moments (Hardy/Lashley is a GREAT rivalry and the best example of interest, bar the horrendous stair Swanton which made me gasp) and some pointless ones (tag and gauntlet matches felt utterly without worth), but nothing awful, and for a show setting up the next few NYC Impact shows, no problem.
Also, I won't lie, I loved Taz giving out his catchphrase, I will forever mark for that.

Dude... I couldn't be more on board if I tried! Are you still on board? Oh, yeah. I mean, as a match that sucked, but I like bizarre characters, and I think mainstream wrestling has been missing a clown character so I'm still on board.

If it makes you feel better he doesn't do that crap with the balloons anymore(or at least, nearly as much). He still does goofy stuff like honking his horn & tilting his head with that grin, but he does more wrestling now, since Knux put pressure on them, including himself, to start actually winning matches & titles, so they can get more money.

WOW.
I'm speechless. It wasn't an absolutely amazing, flawless show. It didn't even have that much that stood out. But as a mission statement for what TNA are going to be moving forward it was f***ing perfect.
In presentation, format, aesthetic etc it was pretty much everything I want from a TV wrestling show. If TNA can actually keep going in this direction and build upon it they are on to a winner. I'm not getting my hopes up though.
Im fine with the ECW stuff, its not the focus of the fued, its just something they did because of where they are, they'd have been foolish to run that building and not make use of the ECW connection really.
Is the plan to run New York all the time for Impact now? if so then I say great idea.

I will say the ECW stuff is there for a bit longer but it does tie into the overall story. I think some will like it if they realize it is not meant to be an ECW rebirth in TNA but a means to an end. As for locations in the future, it is my understanding they are looking at NYC and the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, PA where the previous set of shows ere taped.

If Spike renews them they need to try to get Spike to pay for the Hammerstein as a more permanent home. That place always looks awesome on TV.

I know Hammerstein is apparently very expensive to run shows at, but if they can find a way to tape there permanently, even if they have to tape six weeks of shows in 2-3 days like the last set, it'll be worth it, IMO.

Well, this was the set of tapings that was going to help convince Spike to renew their TV deal. TNA better hope they continue getting these types of ratings or better, but good start nonetheless.
