I'm really trying to not make this an anti or LOL TNA thread, because I don't watch the show and only keep up with it through reading the threads here and watching YouTube clips.
So with the news that a reset button of sorts is being pushed and a new beginning is in place, that's the sort of thing that gets me interested. OK, I'll give you a shot again, TNA.
So instead of, what I expected, a company building up their own talent and recognising their own stars to make their own identity and a legit alternative to WWE, we get Tommy Dreamer, Bully Ray and Tazz bigging up a company that TNA aren't even legally allowed to mention. They have fans chanting "ECW" and even doing f***ing "YES" chants. Way to really brand your own company here, guys. What an identity.
So a new beginning for TNA is showcasing guys from a company that belongs to Vince and died over a decade ago. Bravo.
Switch OFF.

Yeah - I don't know why they always go back to the well. This is like the umpteenth time they've done vaguely ECW-Reunionish stuff and its worked ZERO times for me.

I had a couple of problems with the first 30 minutes. Yes, they were beating the dead horse that is ECW. But how about the fact that Dreamer got all over EC3 for talking too much instead of wrestling, when EC3 and Rhino were interrupting a long winded Bully/Dreamer promo? Oh and during that tag match Dreamer hilariously tagged in when he was already IN the ring, haha.

I agree that the ECW shit was very annoying, but you can't really control the "yes" chants. I mean, Daniel Bryan is arguably the hottest thing in wrestling right now, and short of telling the fans what they can and can't do like they used to, you can't control how a crowd cheers and such.

To be fair, TNA was going to be hated so badly due to their past problems that they needed the ECW nostalgia pop just to ease people into them.

They are doing ECW shit AGAIN??? Yes. They brought back DVON, Rhino, and Dreamer, and will likely be re-uniting Team 3D. Oh, another HARD-Core Justice PPV (their ECW style one) is on its way. ROH out draws them, because they have young fresh talent people will PAY to see.

Are they bringing back some ECW talents? Yeah, but it is hard to argue that Devon, Bully, and Rhino do not belong in a company the size of TNA. Dreamer probably should not be there, but hey, he also brings an additional business connection as well. I do not trust TNA to use these guys to build up their whole talent roster, but it is certainly possible. Team 3D make for a good face team that I would tune in to see and Rhino serves his job well as muscle to EC3. It seems like less of an ECW reunion and more like bringing in guys who were in TNA before who have some name recognition to feud with our current set of guys. There is no Raven, Sabu, or the like this time at least.

I'm not a huge fan of the ECW nostalgia, but I understand why they did it. If TNA had rolled in there with their typical LOLTNA booking they would have been annihilated by the fans, so bringing in some ECW guys to pop the crowd makes sense. Honestly, it's not that bad, at least they brought in guys that can still do things, and they didn't bring in Axl Rotten or something. Rhino works as some hired muscle for Dixie, D-Von is going into their HoF, and Dreamer is a guy that can show up and get pinned by EC3, so as long as it's short term it's not THAT bad, and realistically if you don't like it at least it's confined to the Dixie segments. This at least makes sense on some level, I'll never figure out the logic of having that ECW reunion PPV in the Impact Zone.

Wasn't Lashley was the champ for the last iteration of ECW as well?
Edit: He was a champ but not the final.

Hardy vs Lashley showed that they didn't need the ECW stuff. Just do good matches.

Now that the company apparently learned from their mistakes and write off dixie carter, is going to do another ECW invasion? There is no way something good is gonna come from this, I think actually the tna casual viewers went "hey the Dudley Boyz and Rhyno, haven't seen them in years" then they're gonna suscribe to the WWE network. Little by little John Gaburick is turning tna into another WWE program, if this trend keeps on, people are actually going to think that they're watching a wwe show, gaburick has to be a mole there isn't any other explanation.

To think that a couple of weeks ago, when the results of those NYC tapings were posted here, most was genuinely excited about what would happen this summer in TNA.
That didn't take long.

During WWE's most popular and for some fans most acclaimed years, they'd often mention or allude to other promotions like WCW or ECW. Okay maybe not often, but occasionally. WCW sure did it a lot. And especially today in the information age, I think it makes sense to acknowledge things from outside your company or from the past.
Personally I don't mind it, at least to me it's the least of TNA's problems over the years. Not to say it can't be poorly done or cheesy, but for me it's not inherently a deal breaker. Plus I like the wrestlers we're talking about, I think Dreamer is underrated. And some of them are just entertaining to have around, I'd love to see Sandman as somebody's crazy manager or something.

Hardy vs Lashley showed that they didn't need the ECW stuff. Just do good matches. It's amazingly easy really. Instead, they decided to start with ECW and end with ECW -- both promos and for nostalgia reasons only. It makes me sad that TNA doesn't have it's own identity after 12 years and they always go back to cheap pops from the past when they have the talent that they could build a company and legacy around. If they were worried the fans would get on them, how about not start with a promo? start with a barn-burner of a match that gets the people excited for the TNA product, not ECW or WWE.
