"Hey mom, wrestling is about to come on!" "Not on this TV, motherf***er." Exact conversation I had with my mom recently. This is pretty much the sentiment amongst all my family members. I'm sadly related to a large group of people who when thinking of wrestling tend to state: "you know it's fake right!?, ufc rules, you like watching a bunch of oiled up naked guys wtf gay!" I tend to not agree on entertainment, politics, anything with anyone in my family.

At first, I wasn't allowed to watch South Park, but after a few seasons, they let up on it.

I never understood this concept, mainly due to the fact that when they're on the ground in UFC, its usually with the dominant (and sweaty) guy on top while the other guy has his legs wrapped around his waist. Of course, he's just doing that as to try to mount a defense, but still.

My parents were always cool with whatever. I'm kind of mad at them for that, though, because I was traumatized as a kid by many a scary movie.

My mom wanted me to turn off Raw on two occasions.
The first was a handicap match between Chyna against the Stooges where the Stooges were feeling up Chyna and they had a bunch of white powder all over her.
The second was when the Big Bossman was reading the poem for Big Show's dead father.

I didn't have cable growing up, so there weren't many things on network TV that my parents didn't forbid me from watching. I do remember when I was 4 or so that my dad told me not to watch The Real Ghostbusters because it was too scary for me, but I had a lot of the toys and I watched it regularly before that without it scaring me.
My cousins had it much worse as my aunt would not allow them to watch anything with "magic" in it, so they weren't allowed to watch Smurfs, TMNT, any fantasy movie, or Scooby Doo. I actually remember being with them the first time they got to see Scooby doo, they were about 13 and 11 and we were at the hospital visiting my grandmother, and they wondered aloud why their mom wouldn't let them watch it since there wasn't any magic involved, just some farmer in a monster mask.

My parents disapproved of my watching wrestling. Cos "wrestling is dumb".

Not TV, but my dad hated it when I, at around 9 years old, played an Adam Sandler comedy CD with very salty language. Also, this is more for my older siblings, they had to be careful when certain George Michael videos came on the MTV.

I had no limits. I could watch anything. Same here. I was allowed to watch and assimilate truths on my own; and my Mom would often straight up answer questions and curiosities I had with unflinching honesty. She also trusted my judgment and knew I wasn't an idiot who'd emulate dangerous things. She also didn't believe in fake sugar-coated morality or protecting me or my brothers from the actual world out there like a perpetual Romper Room. That's why I despise helicopter parents today and their micromanaging and virtual stranglehold of unneeded control. If your kid is so stupid he'd jump off the house because of some stunt he watches, Nature's pretty much dictated his time for selection is at hand and he's probably too stupid to be alive anyway. Breed better. The world has enough stupid and ignorant people.

I wasn't supposed to watch The Simpsons when I was little, but I'd usually sneak and watch it anyway. Also Beavis and Butthead.
Yet, I could freely watch Friday the 13th and other slasher flicks as long as I fast-forwarded the nude scenes...

My mom had issues if I was watching something that bored her in the living room, but she never forbid me from watching something.

Anything having to do with prison was banned in our house. I even remember an episode of The A-Team where Hannibal, B.A. and Murdock get arrested on purpose so they can go to prison and break an innocent guy out. One night my parents were out of the house and that particular night they showed that episode so we watched but kept a close eye on the driveway to see when they came back.
My mother was a huge Carol Burnett fan and we always watched that except when the Eunice sketch came on. Eunice was forbidden in our house. Looking back I believe it had to do with my mother growing up in a dysfunctional home and that particular sketch bothered her.

My aunt didn't want anyone watching CatDog. She didn't understand how they could use the restroom; even thought the opening credits showed how.

It was weird. My parents did not mind me watching the WWF during the attitude era at all. Yet anything ECW related resulted in my TV turning off immediately. I already saw Sable's tits on PPV, the damage was done Mom...

Married...with Children was the show I wasn't allowed to watch when I was a kid.
My parents didn't love In Living Color, but they let me watch it.
My little sister wasn't allowed to watch 90210 or Melrose Place.
