I can't say I have a tonne of faith in DC doing a big MCU style movie series, so It's probably for the best that they don't try to work 2 TV series into it

I'm actually okay with this. This way they do what they want with the stories and not hold back anything because of the movies. I like Agents of Shield a lot but they were kind of spinning their wheels until Cap 2 was released, so at least Arrow and Flash won't have this problem.

I would have followed Marvel's model personally, but DC has shown for several years now that they don't really plan anything out and are just sort of winging things on a daily basis, so I'm not surprised they would take the route that requires less planning.

Maybe they are doing it when they want to screw over the TV series and say they can't use Flash or Arrow's character sets? Hey it worked for Batman before...

I think it a good idea even the animated series were set in different universes

It's the best move to make at the moment. If the DC movie-verse fails then it will not drag down Arrow or the Flash. Hell, Flash isn't even on TV yet so attaching that character to a movie would be a mistake. If everything works out you can bring them in after Dawn of Justice if you need to.

Yeah, disappointed in this. Not entirely shocked though, but I think I would be happier if they were all tying in together.

Dumb move on their part. Stephen Amell in Justice League would have guaranteed them a boost in ticket sales from Arrow's weekly audience. Dumb, dumb move.

They still could connect them down the road, continuity be damned, but for now this seems like the best decision. The last thing that DC needs to for a flop of a movie to bring down Arrow and the new Flash show as well.

Anyone who watches Arrow is probably doing to see JL anyway. Plus, Batman. Including everything would handicap the shows. There would be certain characters and storylines that they would be unable to use.

Unless they plan on using a different Green Arrow and Flash in the movies, it doesn't really affect things if the two universes are connected or not. If they change their mind down the road connecting them is a simple case of having them show up in Gotham or Metropolis, or having Supes, Batman, or Wonder Woman take a trip to Starling City/Central City for whatever reason.

Kind of a bummer at first thought, but eventually (the more movies and TV shows we get) tying it all together would just be a constant g-damn mess for both the creators and the audience.
I think Marvel's gonna learn that lesson here soon.

I think Marvel's gonna learn that lesson here soon. Only because of the properties they don't own. The MCU has been well done with continuity. Yeah, lately more often than not, "continuity" has been a "Hey remember this guy?" name drop in some movies, but still... I want to say you're right, but that would mean the Bat-Embargo was right to be enacted. And if I admit THAT, the terrorists win, babies die, etc. etc.

I agree with this. I like Arrow, maybe Flash will be good, but I don't think the movies should have to use the same people and be in-line with what the CW does. In turn I don't want to see Arrow changing in order to be in-line with the Justice League universe. I'd like to see them sticking with the more basic, Mike Grell-style GA they established the show with. The DC tv-shows will be better if they are doing what they want and what works within their budget rather than having to work alongside the movies.
