So I think it's fair to say that guest hosts are almost universally hated. I think the problem is that most either are famous but have no idea about WWE (Ozzy, Snoop) or are Z list but love the product (Maria Menonous, Kid Rock).
But surely there are some who people who wouldn't totally suck at Guest Hosting. Two examples come to mind.
First, Hugh Jackman has always been good value, although I can't stand when he goes over active roster members.
The other is Jon Stewart, dude's clearly a big fan. I mean check out this clip last night, he went into excessive detail on Jack Swagger and Rusev (http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/u1gh7p/cover-up-in-the-air). Also, he has the added benefit of actually being a real celebrity.
Any other suggestions?

I suggest Jon Stewart in a thread last night.
It's such a painfully obvious choice, so of course the WWE will never do it.
He knows the product, is on the up and up on all the angles, and doesn't seem like the type to want to run over the talent.
Having him be the one-time mouthpiece of, say, Swagger, or Ziggler, or any other babyface that can't talk a lick to save their lives would be a boon for them. (nothing against Zeb, but he won't get the mainstream pop)

Daniel Tosh. Only because I think he'd be crazy enough to let Lesnar destroy him on live tv.
Who wouldn't want to see Tosh get Zach Gowened?

Chris Hardwick is another celeb who is obviously a wrestling fan.
In terms of athletes, sky is really the limit provided their contractually allowed to actually do anything.
C'mon, who wouldn't mark out just a little bit to have Ronda Rousey sneak up on Steph and put her in an ARMBAR?
Richard Sherman cuts a promo on Seth Rollins?
There are ways to have celebs look cool without having them bulldoze the talent. I wish WWE would realize this.

I think Chris Hardwick would be fun. He seems like a fan, and they've had lots of wrestling topics on @midnight.
And he's a social media junkie, the E loves that stuff. SummerSlam is in LA, so him and Tosh are right there if they're not touring or something.

I think the @midnight stuff comes more from Matt Mira who is a fan. If you listen to the Mick Foley Nerdist Matt was asking wrestling questions and Hardwick really had no idea what he was talking about. Still he's hillarious and a good sport and he would probably be entertaining as hell.

I see nothing wrong with using Z-listers if they are wrestling fans.
Personally, I'd like to see big name indy wrestlers as guest hosts. It would be a good way to introduce them to the "WWE Universe". Have them be antagonized by a heel, wrestle a match, and then "decide" that they "like this place" and plan to stick around.

Thinking outside the box.
The Beast, If you don't know who he is Google him, but in a nut shell, hes an extremely large, extremely smart, guy on a trivia game show. He has a sports background, in rugby if I remember correctly. He is also obnoxious and very charismatic. Ever since the Chase debuted last year, I've thought he'd be great on RAW, kind of like if Damien Sandow was built like Mark Henry.
