I never got the chance to get into the Clone Wars series, so I'm gonna try to get into Rebels. Looks pretty damn good.

Comment: I put it on my calendar to start DVR'ing in October.
Question: The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network (the second Clone Wars series, that is)... I liked it well enough but had not enough time to get in all the episodes. After 6 seasons, did it ever taper off and get un-good? I watched the first season and tried to keep up into the second season, but I just fell out of touch with it all. So was it good? I'm a Star Wars fan, so is there anything that causes any canonical-related forehead slaps? (I think the prequel movies--especially Episodes I and II--are a slap in the face to Star Wars fans, if that gives you anything to go by in prescribing the Clone Wars' 6 seasons to me. I thought the cartoon theater-released Clone Wars movie was a bit "meh," but not altogether "blasphemy." I kinda blocked it out of mind, but I don't recall anything fan-scarring worthy in it.)
Comment: Gendy Tartakovsky's Clone Wars absolutely RULED, and I consider it full blown canon in terms of documenting different fronts of the conflict and the growth of Anakin. A marvelous depiction of what happened before Episode 3. I mark hard for that series. General Grievous is a favorite character of mine because of that contribution.

So far Mixed opinions on the Show just like when The Clone Wars first started. Hopefully it turns out as good as that show did

Hopefully it will be as good as Clone wars as that show was the best thing to happen to the star wars universe in a very long time.

Shocked that Greg won't be on for the second season, but there's already been some stuff that suggests it's because he's being sent to work on something else for Disney.

To me this looks like "testing to see how a Star Wars sort of reboot will go, 1.0." The whole show looks like nothing but rip offs of the original Star Wars characters. Young kid...Luke Skywalker. Astromech Droid...R2-D2. Boba Fett looking girl...Han Solo. Big Alien guy...Chewbacca. Jedi with goatee...Obi-Wan Kenobi. Twi-Lek girl...Princess Leia. Sith Inquisitor...Darth Vader. Also, HOW MANY JEDI SURVIVED THE DAMN PURGE? ? Were the only Jedi killed in the purge cone head guy, blue twi-lek girl, dork with breather mask, and dumb kids in the temple? They seriously need to have a death deal, where they just go and start killing these loose thread characters. Maul needs to die and stay dead, so does orange Twi-lek girl that was Anakin's "not really" apprentice, and all the other stupid Jedi and Sith! It was so easy when there was Darth Vader (dies), the Emperor (dies), Obi-Wan (dies), Yoda (dies), and Luke Skywalker. It's just supposed to be the big four...then Luke...then the big four all die and Luke is the last! The same goes for Starkiller from Force Unleashed as well as Rahm Kota, and any other "pre-rebellion" Jedi/Sith character I'm missing. A cartoon about the rebels is great, but leave the Jedi and Sith out of it...there's only 2 Sith, and 2 Jedi!

But Diznee already shat on the whole Expanded Universe earlier this summer so who knows. I guess as many survived as much as they see they need per episode and season. If they need a spike in ratings and interest then *poof* another Jedi survived. And there can be however many Jedi as needed. There were upwards of ten thousand at one point. There were thousands of Sith at one point as well. The Rule of Two only applied to Sith between around 1000BBY and after 50ABY. But since they're such an untrustworthy organization there really is nothing stopping anyone from being a Sith or calling themselves a Sith. And again, if Diznee wants more Sith Diznee gets more Sith. I really loved how they shat on the one hundred plus books I've read over the years.

I did get a chance to watch it today. I did not like the look of the CGI. It looked like, well it looked like shit. The Wookiee fur looked like tree bark. I don't know why they took a step backwards because I remember it looking good in the Clone Wars. The facial render of the characters looked too (bear with me) DISNEY. But I'm willing to give it time.
I did like the setting of the Rise of the Empire. That was an era that never got fleshed out too much in the novels.

I don't think it's a big problem because it's a galaxy with FTL travel. There are at least as many planets as there are people. For all the purging that the Sith and the Empire might want there to be, you can never exterminate everyone. There's always a space station, a garbage scow, an abandoned mine or something that someone can hide in. And there's other force-sensitive orders. Not everybody is a jedi or sith. The EU issue is a little frustrating for good things, but IMO the bad of the EU outweighs the good. It had become so nebulous and unrestricted that it was full of plot holes, pointless alien species, superfluous stories, publicity stunt deaths, etc. that were pulling everything down.

It had become so nebulous and unrestricted that it was full of plot holes, pointless alien species, superfluous stories, publicity stunt deaths, etc. that were pulling everything down. What they've done witht the EU can be good and it can be bad. Don't get me wrong, there were some books and storylines I didn't like. My main gripe was how it was such a big "f*** YOU" to fans (like me) of the EU. And it worries me about what else they'll do to. Will Anakin Skywalker wake up at the beginning of Episode VII in a cold sweat and it was all a dream? Will our universe somehow get involved? Will Hurley realize they're all dead? The Yuuzang Vong invasion, wether you liked it or now, was a pretty important story. Will it be a non-canon asterisks? And the thing that set me off in the first place: Chewbacca died in the EU. Disney is bad enough but I'm very weary of J.J. Abrams.
