Ric Flair, Santino Marella (first reign), Big Zeke, Albert, Chyna, Marty Jannetty, Dean Douglas, and Rikishi were all wastes of time as IC champ.

Marty Janetty in retrospect sure, but the Michaels feud when they finally did it was awesome, showing up out of the crowd, Perfect showing up to stop HBK running away, Shawn countering that with Diesel in brilliant matches, it was amazing.

The Mountie
He held the belt for two days and won it at a House Show vs Bret Hart, and any credibility was taken away from the win because everyone said Hart had the Flu.
Though his Theme may give him a pass for everything...

Virtually anyone who held it in 1999.
I think Chyna was an underrated champion. People like to be revisionist about it but Chyna was over and credible.

She had some major weaknesses in the ring, but WWE did a good job covering most of those with opponents who could work with her. I much preferred her in a bodyguard roles to actually wrestling, but I was a fan back in the day.

Absolutely, she wasn't great in the ring but had some okay matches with guys who could work and she was popular as f***. People focus so much on in-ring quality, when the Attitude Era was virtually never about that anyway. Chyna was super over (even if Jericho got cheered against her by some crowds), and had decent length reigns. Saying she's a worse champion that Road Dogg, Godfather (who most forget even had it), Dean 'I am here just to job to Razor' Douglas, Santino 'Plucky babyface from the crowd' Marella and some other people is just preposterous.

The Honky Tonk Man as the worst ever champ? What? Certainly he wasn't very good in the ring, but that wasn't his role. His entire character was based on somehow weaseling his way into a victory to the ire of fans. From that alone, he helped make the title more prestigious. Granted, the lion's share of that is on the booking; but he was the right performer to plug in there to work with said booking. On the strength of that, he's one of the best. As far as worst? Probably one of the guys in the Attitude era, when everyone was getting a belt to hold onto for a lil bit, and none of it mattered. Can't really point out anyone specifically, cuz there came a point in time where the reigns just sorta congeal into an amorphous blob of title switches. ...Uh, what? getting counted out or DQ'd in 99% of your matches as champion definitely does not bring prestige to a title. Sure, maybe he played the guy who weasels into victories to the ire of fans. But over a year of the same routine? Count outs, DQ's, so and so forth doesn't add any sort of prestige to that title. I stand by my comment. Entertaining, sure, but as a champ? Maybe for a month at most, but should have got his comeuppance long before the end of that year + reign.

I think that it was perfect booking when one considers that most of Honky's defenses were on house shows. If it were on TV weekly it would definitely get old but the way that they did things back then was fine. Then you have this guy that's been weasling out with the belt for a year just get absolutely annihilated by the Warrior and it was strong booking IMO.

Here, let me open another can of worms - God bless the dead - But, seriously, Warrior, someone IMO, who should have never touched a title. Great energy, great charisma, very over with the crowd. However, HORRIBLE in ring skills, his "great" matches were based around spots that showed his strength, not on a wrestling level. All he did was yell at an unintelligible pace/tone when he got on the mic, and CLEARLY had no respect for the business it's self. All he had going for him was his energy and fans.

Having a title for that long, even by those means, makes the title mean more because people are salivating to see him lose it/it makes other guys 'want' it. It was a much bigger deal when he did lose it.

I guess, and i stress guess, I am a little bit of a purist, when I hear someone address themselves or proclaim to be a wrestler, that's what I expect them to be, a wrestler. Not punch, kick, clothesline, gorilla slam press, pin. IMO, people like Bret Hart, HBK, Angle, Owen, Backlund - ...Those were wrestlers. Those guys, are guys who brought prestige to titles. ....Well, maybe not Michaels, he was a lil' twerp, but a very very talented one at that. When I see champions, I want to see wrestlers, not personalities, that's why I got behind DB as much as I did, because he's a WRESTLER. I want to see the person with the best in ring skills be represented as the best with that title because no one can touch him as far as in ring skills go.

Miz, if only because I had the displeasure of seeing the jobber win his second IC title (beating Barrett at Mania last year) in person.

Thing about reigns like Mountie's and Douglas', they were champions so that a face could win it without wrestling another face. In Mountie's case it was given to him because he was reliable and good enough to be trusted to have a good match with Piper to drop it on PPV. Mountie might have been an IC champ on his own merits.
In Douglas' case, they didn't think much of him, so he actually never even left the ring as champion. He was never going to be champ, and he only won it because he was Michaels' opponent the night he forfeited. Then he lost it to Razor Ramon.

You guys hating on the Godfather. ...
Do you remember how he got the match in the first place???
It was supposed to be Bossman vs Goldust Godfather came out and gave bossman 5 ho's in exchange for the match.
That counts as memorable for me.
