Rock's acting ability is really underrated. It's not easy to do what he does. Cena's chances of becoming a big enough star in Hollywood to leave wrestling completely are very, very small. I don't think Cena HAS to become a big star in Hollywood to leave wrestling. He's saved his money. I assume that gigantic house of his is paid for. He could walk away from WWE and live comfortably on "E-Lister who randomly appears in Funny or Die sketches" status.

These dumbasses actually think Cena might leave them.
How dumb is backstage? Their opinions over the years have been absolutely laughably bad.

Cena's always given me the impression that acting for him is like a hobby, not something he plans on doing full time.

Cena's done quite a few films now and is not the worst actor Ive ever seen. I'd rank him above Stone Cold, Hogan, Batista, and HHH in terms of acting ability. He's not in The Rock's league, but he could definitely find some niche roles if he chose to leave and focus on movies. He is a smart dude and is clearly getting better at it.
The thing about Cena is he has a brand that's well known and already has a fan base to build upon which studios like. Get him in the right part and that career could take off for him. When Rock left, the thing he did right was pick the right parts that fit him and continues to do so, but he also branched out and did family comedies and such to broaden his appeal. Whether or not the movies are any good is another topic, but I could see Cena being a "Rock-lite" type of "star". Rock is a rare breed and I doubt anyone will do what he's done to the level he has ever again.
That said, I think he's a WWE lifer. I imagine he'll wrestle until he can't anymore, take a few years off and stay away from the business completely and then come back in some capacity. I don't see him doing the Agent thing, he's entirely too big of a name for that, but I can see him being involved with WWE forever.

LOL Cena isn't leaving even if his acting takes off. Yeah, I can still imagine seeing Alberto or someone else tapping out to Hologram Cena's STF maneuver.

So he's going to be in The Expendables 4, right? Shhh! Don't you dare put that out there!

LOL Cena isn't leaving even if his acting takes off. Be great if he did though. He leaves healthy&happy, and WWE finally HAS to change.

Though on the upside, I can't wait for John Cena vs. Bo Dallas: Once in a Lifetime.

So to make him leave we have to all endure his movies? I want him to leave but come on, not like this, NOT LIKE THIS!

He just doesn't have the personality. He could be a quiet strong type in a movie, bodyguard or something, but he doesn't have the range of Rocky. He's never going to have a blossoming movie career. I know you were talking about The Rock/Dwayne Johnson...but for some strange reason I'm now picturing a remake of the movie "Rocky" with Cena playing Mr. Balboa. Nikki! Nikki! Yo, Nikki! I did it! I beat Brock!

I sincerely hope, for the sake of John's and the WWE's health, that he's successful and he ends up being pulled away from the WWE.
Hell, who knows, maybe he'll get the bug like Rock did and willingly move onto something that's not as hard as on his body.
Though the more likely scenario is he's simply using this as a means to make more money and get the WWE's name out there more. Like the good little soldier that he is.

He sucks at acting. So this should not be a giant worry for the WWE.

for his sake I hope it works out for him. obviously he's not going to be the Rock or anything (if that were the case it would've happened by now) but for the sake of his health I hope he does well.

He'll announce he's leaving to make movies.
Returns in three months to beat Reigns for the title.

If there's ever been a more apt movie for the WWE to be involved with in any way, it's one called "Trainwreck".

I'm curious to see what Cena can do with comedy written by people who are actually funny before I write him off completely.
Sure, he'll never be The Rock, but if he plays his cards right he could manage Batista-level success, which is probably all he needs to keep paying his bills.
