But what did Mark think of it? Mark said that he was going to quit watching last month......he rated it a dud for the entire card though.

I'm baffled by one thing here: Why do people think AJ and Paige are some kind of great workers? I keep hearing "Well, these ladies had a bad night but are capable of more." They are? I guess maybe with Paige since the Emma match on NXT was decent (though Charlotte/Nattie was far better). But where does this rep AJ has for being a great women's wrestler come from? I can't think of a single decent match she's ever had. People must just assume that since WWE crammed her down everyone's throats for the past 2 years that she MUST be a great talent. She isn't. AJ/Natalya (from Main Event) is probably my favourite women's match from this year. And AJ/Kaitlyn at Payback was the best WWE women's match in the better part of a decade. I don't love AJ, I'd go as far to say I dislike her but I can't say she isn't a good worker (especially by female wrestlers standards) because it just isn't true.

Well as far as Paige is concerned she is a great wrestler and has proved it in England, Shimmer and NXT. She's not top, top level like Madison Eagles, Sara Del Rey, Ayako Hamada, Daizee Haze in her peak, or the 90's Joshi girls, but she really is good. The real talent in the WWE is Becky Lynch however. Her prime may have been 9 years ago when I genuinely believe she was one of the best female wrestlers ever, at least from a technical standpoint anyway, but if she's as quarter as talented now as she was then she's fan-flipping-tastic. Just a sidenote, but unless they intentionally sabotage her, Becky is going to be very successful. Most female wrestlers have kind of an awkward way of executing most of their moves. Even if they're not really sloppy or they don't botch anything, it still doesn't look quite right. I don't get that vibe with Becky at all. She's extremely talented. Indeed. Also while her last big match was waaaay back at Shimmer 6 she hasn't accumulated a ton of injuries (besides obviously the serious concussion one) so her body isn't at breaking point like that of her peers such as MsChif or Mercedes. Added into that her style of wrestling isn't a highflying Athena type or a brawler type and more mat based then age could not be an issue.

Naomi/Cameron was a better match than AJ/Paige to me, it told a simple story in an effective way.
Still, I'm not too fond of Meltzer rating matches that are short so low.
And Rusev/Swagger when I watched it a few days post-PPV was actually a solid/good match, so seems a bit harsh to give it such a low rating unless he's including the promo before it in the ratings, but I know he doesn't do that...especially when the main event got 3 stars and was pretty much vastly uninteresting in comparison.
Also I'm still stuck in the PPV model idea where your opening match being full of ROH 2009 no-selling is a big turn off. If this was any other PPV and Usos/Wyatts got match of the night I'd be very confused for that reason. All high spots and no need for half of them.

While I agree that AJ is extremely overrated in many, many ways by the IWC, she did have an AWESOME match with Naomi on the 11/23/10 episode of NXT. Seriously watch it. The announcers want to bury it so bad, but even they are converted along the way. One of WWE's best women's matches in a long, long time.

If Battleground took place at the Tokyo Dome, Meltzer would be blowing his wad over it.
