I love Johnny Polo, Met Raven and Got most of the flock razzing him when I busted out the photo....he was a great sport.
Though....I'll admit, my GF/Soulmate ....may be the single bggest Johnny Polo fan in the world.

Never got the appeal of the Raven character. He came off as whiny most of the time.
Johnny Polo was awesome, though, and he's one of my all-time favorite WWF/E personalities.

I remember getting a kick out of him when I was a kid. After he showed up back in WWF during the ECW "Invasion" as Raven I my mind was kind of blown. I was all, "What the hell? It's Johnny Polo!!" Raven had already returned before the Invasion started.

I really liked him as Polo. He was one of the highlights of the early RAWs.
I'm a big fan of the Raven character, though. I'm glad he got to do it.

He was a perfect match for The Quebecers.

From my reading of the Raven gimmick, Raven and Johnny Polo were the same person.
Johnny Polo was the same rich, spoiled brat who tormented Tommy Dreamer and Beulah when they were kids.
In fact, I think the Raven backstory makes a lot more sense because we actually got to see Johnny Polo.

In fact, I think the Raven backstory makes a lot more sense because we actually got to see Johnny Polo. WCW basically confirmed this when we visited Raven's childhood home in early 1999 and learned that he was really just a spoiled rich kid and Sandman was his yuppie neighbor. I've said it before, but I always loved WCW's idea that perhaps the entire ECW roster were nothing more than bored WASPs engaging in some sort of bizarre fight club.

Vince probably didn't even realize Raven was Polo. I've heard him say that one of the reasons he never got much of a chance as Raven in WWE is because Vince still just thought of him as Johnny Polo. And Patterson and others just didn't "get" the Raven character.

It's amusing that Raven's biggest dream, after wrestling, was to be a booker for the major leagues (I think he's the one for Billy Corgan's indy), and if he stayed with the wwe he would be part of creative nowadays, I wonder if he had stayed Johnny Polo and later transitioned to creative, what would be our impression of him? "That f***ing Levy, he buried Punk at the ppv, how is he part of creative if he never amounted to shit?" lol

My memory is a little foggy. Did he unsuccessfully attempt to sue WWE a few years ago in some sort of challenge to the "wrestlers aren't employees, they're independent contractors" thing? I seem to recall plans to, if he didn't actually follow through. Am I crazy?
If he did, that was probably the biggest mistake of his career, because (though it looks unlikely either way) he could be a solid contributor to WWE for years to come in an office/producer role.

He, Kanyon and Mike Sanders did, but the case got thrown out because they waited too long after their releases to file suit. Suit or no suit, there was little chance of the WWE hiring him in any role as they just didn't want him there. The guy did everything the asked of him during his final run, including cutting his hair and wearing plain black trunks and it still wasn't enough.

Just saying, as talented as he is, trying to sue the WWE makes ever working there again all the more unlikely.
