So I caught a re-run of this episode (best known for giving us "The Russel Crowe Show" and Tugger) a couple of days ago, and it reminded me that when this episode first aired I was a senior in high school. The next day in psychology class I'm talking with a classmate about this episode and he speculated that a trailer for "Asses of Fire 2" meant that there was gonna be a sequel to South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. This seemed to make sense as the original Asses of Fire was the movie-within the-movie of Bigger, Longer and Uncut. So was anyone else under the assumption that "Asses of Fire 2" was Parker and Stone foreshadowing a second South Park movie when the episode first aired?

No, it was just an episode that was written lazily.
And I say that as a fan of the episode, the whole thing seems to be driven around the thing you're most likely NOT looking forward to, the goddamn commercials. Everything is just a set up for that, so therefore I consider this one of the best episodes they likely put very little effort into.

Is this the one where they go around trying to watch some shitty show and at the end Butter's said his parents aren't home so they can't go there?
That episode reminded me a lot of my own childhood. Loved it.

Born in New Zealand in 64, a hot headed actor named Russel Crowe, he likes making movies, but he likes one thing more, fighting round the world.
He'll fight his directors and he'll fight his fans, it's a problem no one really understands, the two he likes is fighting and fighting round the world.
Making movies, making music, fighting...round...the...world...Russel Crowe!
