Yesterday's win for my Bills- and all the other wins for the teams yesterday- suddenly feels hollow, if not shallow. This Ray Rice video has damn near made yesterday's game seem moot by comparison.

Well, he had already said that he had messed up with suspension so now with new footage coming out, he can fix that mistake. Bull f***ing shit. He's just covering his ass. Some of this may be BS, but what is not BS is Goodell saying that he got the suspension wrong before doing the whole domestic violence punishment thing.

This kind of thing is why I'm not really a sports fan anymore. People jumping to defend something like this is just crazy. Also if he wasn't a famous millionaire he'd have gone to jail. The cults known as "die hard sports fans" just skeev me the f*** out. There are also wrestling fans that can look past Chris Benoit murdering his wife and child and still enjoy his matches because he was a good technical wrestler. People still enjoy Sean Penn movies, listen to Chris Brown's music, and think Charlie Sheen is an adorable screw-up. This is to say nothing of those that believe that their sibling/friend/fraternity brother could never be capable of domestic/sexual violence because they "just don't seem like the type". This issue and the issues surrounding including victim blaming, disbelief, and making excuses for the perpetrator are bigger than sports culture. I'm having trouble answering you without getting abstract. I just find die hard sports fans to more apologetic of horrible actions in the name of their team. There are a ton of reasons I don't follow sports anymore, that's just the one that fits this discussion.

Still never fails to amazing me how such talented players on the field can still be so stupid off the field. You have a group of dudes who generally, have been taught all their lives that what they can do athletically is a)their only meaningful contribution to society, and b)excuses virtually anything they do. When you socialize someone that way, so that they're above the law in a sense so long as they're good with a ball, it's not totally surprising when you get a whole lot of lunkheads.

You can watch his old matches divorcing the performer from the murderer he was to become as he didn't commit those actions yet. It may sound like a flimsy justification, but I also firmly believe that if his brain wasn't so f***ed up by the concussions and head trauma he suffered that he, Nancy, and Daniel would all still be alive. Especially when you look at untreated head trauma of past NFL players leading to some horrific actions, like Junior Seau's suicide among many others.

Kinda crazy to think his career is over after 5 years. The life span of an NFL player is so short.

Yeah and the same can be said in the entertainment world as well. It a shame really. I remember that story about that high school team in Texas last year I think. A girl girl got rapped by the team but wasn't punished the way they should have been because a big game was coming and it was sick that the law played favor to them. Just a sad example of what happens when people put athletes and talent over what is right.

Had to slow it down because in normal speed with the grainy video, all I could see was the lunge and her going down. But seening it slow down, you can see the left hook which considering it was hard to see in normal, means that it was a pretty hard swing.

Robert Mathis is out for the season because he tore his Achilles in practice today.
So much for the defense riding it out until his suspension ended. Now everybody has to step up.

Wow, I don't believe I've ever seen Schefter even a little angry. That's not to say I blame him, because with all of the backtracking and multiple stories out there he and other reporters have been made to look like idiots as the article says, but it's definitely surprising and telling of how f***ed up this entire situation is.

@ravens: Janay Rice says she deeply regrets the role that she played the night of the incident.
Like what do you even say to that?
I am at a loss.
This is all so sickening.

NFL has now suspended Ray Rice indefinitely after his release from the Ravens.
Which last I checked...they according to the rule book, can't do. He's still a first time offender as bad as the vid looks.
How did NFL just go from 2 game suspension, to stiffen the penalties for these actions, to suspended indefinitely?
So does the NFL change their own rules when they see fit?
