I don't really feel all that bad for three reasons: 1. Where we're at in the story came out in the comics 4 years ago. 2. Not everything that happens in the comic happens in the show, some elements are remixed, and new stuff happens that didn't happen in the comic. Some characters in the show aren't in the comic and vice versa (see the Dixon Brothers). 3. You're in a Walking Dead thread on a message board on the internet. The Walking Dead can be considered a fandom based on the comics alone. There's a high probability that the comic is going to be talked about. We do our best to keep things in spoiler tags, but the rule of thumb I always use when I don't want to be spoiled is "don't look it up online". I will say that we are getting relatively close to a point in the show where several things will have to change as either AMC won't fork over for the budget, the sets they need may require too much (I really doubt they're going to leave Georgia to film in D.C., and recreating D.C. in a studio may be a bit too much), and some characters are going to have to change drastically (Negan can't drop f-bombs every other word or in some cases several f-bombs in a long, continuous stream on cable television). 1. 4 years ago. 4 months ago. 4 days ago. That happened in the comics not in the show. Any details you give from 4 years ago can spoil people's enjoyment of the show today. 2. Not everything that happens in the comic happens in the show but enough elements from the comics carry over that it's probably best to err on the side of caution and if it hasn't happened keep it in spoiler tags. 3. You're in a Walking Dead thread on a message board on the internet that clearly says 'Season 5' in the title making it pretty obvious it's about the TV show. The rule of thumb I always use is when I'm in the thread clearly marked for the TV show, I put anything from the comics in spoiler tags. And this comes from someone who's completely up to date on the comics. I'm up to date on the comics also. Hell my friends and family are happy I'm into something new so they can buy me WD collectables instead of just Thor stuff from Marvel now. Thing is if I was a fan of the show but hadn't touched the comics, and happened into the thread lately, I'd be doing a huge WTF. That's all I'm trying to say. Keep the damn spoilers/plot points that are coming down the road out of the thread or in tags.

Another good episode. Nowhere near the amount of action last week, but did a god job patching up some loose ends from last season. Of course, that ending got my hyped for next week. Also, did anyone else notice the guy Tyreese supposedly "killed" last week among the Terminus survivors? You done f***ed up, big guy. On the Talking Dead, Chad Coleman said that Tyreese thought he beat the guy to death rather than just not having the stones to do it. Yeah, its suspect with him stopping Carol from checking it out; but Tyreese thought he got the job done and didn't. If he was smart, he would have made sure the brain was destroyed. I'm interested in seeing where they go with Tyreese and his inability to kill dangerous people; and how it might come back to bite him. He didn't make it this far in the comic, so he's a wild card at this point.
He also showed up much later on the show than he did in the comic.

I was never really into bob, but that scene really got at me. Now I just really wish those cannibals get f***ed up badly.

Rick did mention when glaring at Gareth in the season premier that there's a red handled machete among Rick's possessions, and that he's going to kill him with it. Gareth mentioned "cosmic justice" in the second episode. I'd expect some cosmic justice to be dispensed via a red handled machete. No spoilers, just the heavy foreshadowing that they like to use on The Walking Dead. I could be wrong but I don't think I am.

Alright another good episode. Maybe not quite up to last weeks level but still genuinely decent 1. Father Gabriel makes his debut in the show, pretty much useless on his own, perhaps doesn't shove God down the main groups throat as he does in the comics. 2. Good bit of Character development, Carol continues to be awesome. 3. I see Bob is pretty much taking Dales role at this point from the comics {Spoiler}Chances are he was most likely bitten when they were in the supermarket but kept it a secret, like Dale was in the show Either way it's been a solid first 2 episodes and I'm really looking forward to next week

It seems to me that they're pushing Gabriel as someone struggling with keeping his sanity more so than his comic counterpart. In the comics, he literally walks up to the group and asks them if they can spare a minute to talk about the lord immediately after: {Spoiler}The Ben and Billy situation unfolds, and the group is still in shock wondering what to do about it. Some of the stuff that was notable in the church during episode 2 wasn't really explored in the comic. Either way, I think the show's adaptation of him will give us a more fully fleshed out character with some interesting possibilities. Having said that, you're about correct as far as Gabriel being completely useless on his own. As far as Bob goes: {Spoiler}He is definitely taking Dale's place from the comic arc. Only difference is the relationship of Bob and Sasha compared to Dale and Andrea, and the fact that Bob still has one leg left. Dale had already lost one of his legs in a manner similar to Herschel at the prison when the Hunters took the other one.

I generally don't care for comparing the print version of something with the tv/film adaptation - not for the spoilers, but just because they're two different mediums. Anytime someone rants on and on about a superhero comic vs its superhero movie adaptation my eyes roll so hard I nearly fall over.
That being said, they've done a very good job of changing just enough about the show to keep comic fans surprised/anticipating about whats going to come next, so I can see why people would want to talk about it. its not an antagonistic relationship like with most film/tv adaptations of comics, but still.
This week's episode was a great setup. Hunters vs Survivors will hopefully be as brutal as it deserves to be based on what they've set up on the show. I actually like how the show has given the Hunters a good backstory as to why they ended up the way they did. They're sick and you want them to die, but its like 70% revenge/justice and 30% pity/mercy-killing. They kind of remind me of a Reaver (from firefly) but a calmer more sociopathic kind of crazy.

I loved last night's episode, the end was shocking yet I was making fun of Bob mainly now that he is literally Bob's Burgers Shish-ka-Bob

Pretty much, As a reader of the Comics I'm glad they don't completely copy it. It would just be to predictable otherwise. Still I get a basic idea where they are heading but it's nice to be proven wrong at times.

So everyone that's discussing the TV show (see title labelled Season 5) should just accept that everything in the thread will be spoiled from now on based on your rules. Ok cool. I think it's also worth saying that "oh this is how it happened in the comic" means jack shit here. it's abundantly clear that the show's very different from the comic. in the Game of Thrones thread we're usually pretty good about not spoiling anything for those who never read the books, I don't see why it has to be any different here.

So why does evil Terminus dude talk so damn much? He seems pretty insane to me and really wants people to know that they're not bad people, just forced into this. I think, in his mind at least, this is a necessary evil so its not that he's overtly villanious, but trying to show empathy in his own strange way.

So why does evil Terminus dude talk so damn much? It's that evil leader thing. They are always running off at the mouth. Builds heat with the audience and moves the plot along.
