I'd like to just put forward my argument that WWE has been using Hogan PRECISELY the way TNA should have. He's not a full time character, he's not actively participating in any story or feud-he is a company shill, he is there to move merchandise, get some nostalgia pops, and put verbally put over younger, current stars. TNA made a mistake by bringing Hogan in expecting him to be a rating's boost, instead they should have brought him in to try to expand they're visibility and, by extension, they're audience. They didn't need Hogan in the ring feuding with Dixie Carter; they needed Hogan going on talk shows, podcasts, and putting in appearances like at Comic Con-and every time he needed to be wearing a TNA t-shirt and telling the audience "TNA has the hottest stars and the best action in the world, brother! Be sure to tune in every Thursday on Spike!" But, as TNA has a sad record of doing, they took a potentially big asset and used it in the least productive way possible.

Well that is TNA for yeah. The same should be said with Flair. What I am amazed is Sting and the situation now. How Sting comes off in the WWE for just a video game announcement and one comic con appearance, he already coming off as a bigger deal. Now to say Sting run wasn't bad because most of it he was draw ratings proved that when he returned beat Hardy for the title. I just wish he wasn't wrestling with a T-Shirt half the time and the whole joker thing he did was embarrassing.

I think you hit the nail on the head about Hogan. I wouldn't even mind the occasional storyline involvement in the WWE. It's when you're building your entire company around a 60 year old man that can't get in the ring anymore that you have a huge problem.

To be fair, Dixie is pretty well the village idiot and probably believed what Hulk and Bischoff were telling her and that's why they were all over TV.

Same thing that defines Hogan in WWF and Hogan in WCW, there were people above him that were ready to tell him 'No', there was a lack of that in WCW/TNA.

At one time, not that long ago, tgey had some of te most legendary names in wrestling all under contract; Hogan, Sting, Flair, Nash, Angle, Steiner, and others. With that kind of star power, they should have been able to raise they're profile and get loads of cross promotion and advertising. They also should have been able to use those legends to help elevate they're home grown stars to no end and make them look every bit equal to WWE's roster. But somehow they squandered it.

I have to agree and this what gets me about TNA as a business. I mean AJ Styles not getting resigned was a big deal to me because he ones a home grown talent that as beaten those big names. So he was one of few guys that could be looked at as an equal to the WWE guys. That the biggest gripe I have always had with TNA is marketing and advertising because honestly there shouldn't be a reason why more so in 07 to 09 when they peaked with talent Awesome Tag team division, X-Division, Women's, and ME. That they didn't draw a 2.0 which IMO was a reasonable number to shoot for in ratings at the level this company is or was and be able to make real money that they could resign whoever. Pay a talent well where others would be wanting to sign with them. They did drop the ball on that. Because if booked the right way AJ and Joe most of all should have been players. But they yo yo talent to much and because of Russo they turn them way to much before anybody could really be over in that role and did way to much catering to the "name" guys instead of getting the home grown talent over.

There is probably a good reason why Hogan never, ever mentioned TNA on the talks shows, promo events, etc. I can only assume that he didn't have any obligation to or wanted more money to promote TNA on talk shows that got him invited on personal basis and were not initiated by TNA. So they couldn't have had Hogan do that no matter what. Also by having Hogan and not having him as some sort of a head figure on the show is something TNA cannot afford, WWE can but not TNA.

After Immortal, they did use him like that for a few months, before the Aces & 8's storyline put him on-screen more again. So, they could do it, but he probably wanted more screen time & they just couldn't say no.

That's the difference between WWE and TNA. With WWE, Hogan's used for a nostalgia pop, merchandise, and promotion. He hasn't been involved in one storyline or even physical with a wrestler. In TNA, he was all over the shows, in 5 segments a night, every main event storyline involved him in some capacity. Basically, Hulk Hogan was the top guy in TNA when he couldn't even do his leg drop. It was absurd and ridiculous. It also didn't help that Dixie is a idiotic mark and probably agreed to and believed everything his said.
Hell, look at Tommy Dreamer. WWE bring him in for a one-off nostalgia pop in Philadelphia, TNA have him involved in the main storyline.

My impression has been that Dixie walked into the negotiations as a wide eyed mark in awe of one of wrestling's biggest legends, rather than as a businesswoman trying to get the most value for her dollar. TNA actually had a lot of leverage that they could have used to get the best deal out of it, but instead they seemingly did whatever Hogan said he wanted.

Only WWE know how to use Hogan. As a spokesman.
Dixie saw him as someone to build everything around
She's a fool. Always will be

I cannot imagine anyone in WWE humiliating themselves like Dixie did on Hogan's last night. That may have been the most bush league thing I've ever seen from TNA.

That's true, but I always wanted to see a TNA World Title reign just for the internet reaction.

Yes he has but he wouldn't film an angle where he gets on his hands and knees and begs someone who is legitamately leaving to stay in his company. Even he isn't insane enough to do that.

To me what makes TNA so tragic is they shouldn't have tried to be like the WWE, but instead be a decently solid number 2 promotion, the kind of wrestling company that does it's own thing so well that any new start up promotion looking for TV time should be trying to knock them off the perch.
Nobody is touching WWE, so why not have the battle be for number 2?

That's true, but I always wanted to see a TNA World Title reign just for the internet reaction. I am in a couple of facebook groups with the guy that runs this website. hulkhoganhistory.weebly.comHe seriously thought that Hulk winning the TNA title would have been an Awesome Idea and that not doing so was a missed opportunity. Hell, he thinks Hogan should have been in the Wrestlemania 30 main event as a wrestler and should have beaten Orton or Batista for the WWE title! Did I mention he thinks putting the title on Hulk now would be the cure for WWE's recent ills? Give the guy credit, it is an impressive website.

TNA Hogan is what you get from a Hulk Hogan who has other options and is using that leverage to get his way, he's the same one the WWF got in 93, the one WCW got and the one the WWE got from 2005-2007.
