PW Insider just posted an update of sorts www.pwinsider.com/article/87204/tnaspike-tv-update.html?p=1. The Cliff Notes: * Dixie sent out the following tweet: "Negotiations with @spiketv are ongoing. Stay tuned and be sure to tune in this Thursday night for Ultimate X on #ImpactOnSpike!!" * They can't confirm TMZ's report, but this rumor has been making the rounds for weeks. * "I do know that several weeks ago, TNA was still negotiating with Spike. There is also a version of the story floating around that Dixie Carter informed TNA staff of the cancellation at a meeting earlier this week. While there was indeed a staff meeting on Wednesday 7/23, I am told nothing of the sort was stated and that the majority of it was discussion of strategies for the next three weeks of TV promotion. * The current deal runs through October. The August tapings will cover the remaining episodes if things do not change on the Spike front.

Well, this'll make spoilers for next week's taping really interesting if anything. Also, if the company folds, the last show is going to be in Salinas, Kansas... so that's a thing.

TV wise, what are their options? Fox Sports 1 would make a ton of sense or have it on one of their FX/FXX channels, but...I'm trying to think of another network that could potentially have them. Not a chance Fox even thinks about getting after it. If Murdoch is able to purchase Time Warner, they'll become a real threat to ESPN with all of the outlets Fox would have a direct connection to. Even if that doesn't happen, Fox Sports 1 is the last place I'd expect to see TNA. They're going all out with hiring big named talent and getting the rights to things like the World Cup in 2018. Fox wants to be a big time player. If anything, some network that's not carried everywhere will give them a shot. If you want me to name one right now, I can't. It will be some smallish channel that not all operators carry. It cannot be understated how much they're devalued just b/c Spike doesn't want them anymore. They'll be lucky to get half of what they're getting now, if anything. A smaller network will not be able to bankroll them and if the onus is on TNA for production costs, they're pretty much done. I don't see Panda bankrolling them without a deal that gets them at least decent exposure on a national level. Not to mention the fact that any deal they can make would require them to give a cut to UTA. It's over folks.

So does this mean I can get ready for a "The Rise and Fall of TNA" DVD?

They have no options really. Meltzer made a pretty good point on LAW, that Fox Sports didn't even make a play for the WWE this year, so why would they bother with TNA? Not to mention Fox Sports being tight with UFC, and no Network is going to pay what Spike was paying for what is now a cancelled show. We're just waiting on the eulogy now. It's possible they weren't looking to spend WWE type money, but they'd consider TNA at a bargain price. Probably not too likely though, especially being this close to the new TV season in the fall. But the other thing Meltzer mentioned in regards to the TV deal is let's say that's true, that a network will take them at a bargain price. The money from the Spike deal wasn't enough to keep them in good financial shape, so can they really survive wih an even smaller deal?

Maybe, but they'd have to bring down the Budget Cutter down hard. Anyone with a high-dollar contract would be history.

You have to look at it like this: Say you were going to hire a guy to repair your refrigerator. You're going to give him $100 to do the job. Are you going to hire a guy who you have to pay before he does the job and will only have the tools to fix your refrigerator after you pay him, or the guy who has all of the tools already? In this case, Option A sucks and Option B doesn't exist so you'll probably just buy a new refrigerator instead. AKA tv channels will find something else instead of this shitty old product

Seriously, TNA has MUCH bigger financial problems on their hands with operating costs than a couple TV talents.

Yet another thing we potentially won't be able to post *WWE buys TNA* *FAN posters no longer able to embed HE'S FAT videos* *the REAL cost of TNA going under sinks in for our userbase* *sad faces* Would it be possible to buy the rights to that specific piece of footage? I'd be willing to put in for that.

You know I think it would be smart if TNA hooked up with Netflix and put all of their backlog and stuff on there and do live shows on it

Is there an Ultimate X at Destination X or is Dixie panicking amidst her damage control attempt and forgetting the name of her show?

What is a high-dollar contract by TNA terms in mid 2014? When all the dust settles and TNA is dead, I wouldn't be surprised to find out the highest paid person in TNA was Dixie Carter herself.

Not surprised at all. I could reminisce about my favorite things TNA had done. Or all the times they f***ed up. Or gloat about what I predicted coming to fruitation. But I can't muster of the energy or excitement for that. Hearing this news has made me feel like Jimmy Jacobs after he finally scored with Lacey.
