Well this is bad news. It's like when Big Mama died on Soul Food. Who gonna bring us together on Thursday night to eat the high sodium food and suger filled purple drank that is TNA. I need that Sweet Dixie Carter in my life. What will happen to Rock star Spud? What does Ja Rule have to say about this?

Moral of the story: if you want to kill your promotion, Russo, Hogan, and Bischoff having power is a good start.

I was going to go with Leave the Memories Alone but this seemed more appropriate:

Regardless of their countless screw-ups, I'm still a TNA fan at heart. I'd hate to see them shut down.

Moral of the story: if you want to kill your promotion, Russo, Hogan, and Bischoff having power is a good start. That's what is taking TNA's time slot. Russo, Hogan and Bischoff go into different businesses to help them grow but at the end of each episode the company goes out of business.

I will say that I think internet fans as a whole shouldn't act too high and mighty. TNA implemented many of their popular refrains "Go head to head with RAW!" "Leave the Impact Zone and go out on the road full time!" "Cut down on PPVs!". All of these things wound up losing a lot of money and consistency for TNA. Of course, these decisions are on Dixie and TNA officials for ultimately doing these harmful moves, but the all along fans prodded them on to use a "go for broke instead of being #2" approach.
And it would appear they are, indeed, broke.

I started watching TNA in 2009. It was mostly something to pass the time with, I was never that invested in it. Some of the guys had talent, some storylines were interesting, but I guess after years of hearing about how TNA was just a cheap WWE knock off, I never bothered to give it much of a chance. I probably still wouldn't have to this day if not for Rockstar Spud and EC3. They made me take notice, made me care. If this is true, I will be sad to see it go for the wrestlers who did try to give their all, no matter how small the crowd, the non-sensible storylines, and everything else going on.

Court Bauer is vaguely tweeting that news is going to break about soemthing shortly. Didn't say it was TNA, though.
I've disliked TNA for a lot of this existence and have ragged on it a lot, but if they go that sucks. A wrestling company going down is never good.

I'm not sure if I should be upset because this hurts the business overall, or somewhat satisfied that they finally got what they deserve for about a decade's worth of unbelievable mismanagement.

Dixie herself has talked about how much they lost doing monthly shows and how she wanted to get down to 4 so I doubt cutting them cost them anything. Also, I do not remember anyone but the diehard ubermarks that washed out of here that thought going against Raw was a good idea. Hell, I believe it was the exact opposite with some cautious optimism that they might hold level. On the out on the road full time thing, I do think most of us wanted that but not at the stupid level Hulk and Eric took it to. Taped on the road was fine, but live every week then live every other week was insanity. To be fair though you say internet fans as a whole though and I like to think this place is far different than the majority of places out there. TNA, or at least TNA under Eric and Hulk since Dixie has made changes (forced as they may be), is the damned Monkey's Paw of wrestling.

Oh absolutely, I think FAN is easily the best place for TNA discussion around. But I just think the general consensus amongst wrestling fans was "It's been (x) years! Stop being number 2 and compete with WWE!" And really, TNA should have been damn happy with being #2 and making any money at all like they apparently were in 2008 and 2009. May not be sexy, but staying the course is better than being out of business. I still don't know about the PPV cutting one way or the other. I'm sure they cost money to produce, but you on the flipside you lose that buyrate revenue, money from the PPV provider, and an overall sense of direction for the product. I suppose we will find out more in the inevitable Death of TNA book/DVD.

I don't remember anyone here saying they should "go for broke." Most people seemed to encourage the idea of TNA continuing to progress as the WWE Alternative rather than trying to reignite the MNWs.

Well... damn. I'll miss Impact if they can't get another channel. For the simple fact WWE needs an alternative. Three hours of Raw is just rough.

Yeah, TNA is what we'll all point too for years to come about trying to be bigger than you are. #2 and a strong alternative is better than dead. On the PPV thing, I think by all accounts, even Dixie's, they were losing money on most of if not all the monthly shows because they were not getting enough buys to cover the costs. The direction of the shows is an interesting thing though and really made itself known during the Aces and 8s thing. That really showed how they missed them.
