The thing that annoys me more about the WWE statement is the dot between U.S and U.K. They don't call themselves the W.W.E do they?

Okay, so I've watched some footage of him. The guy's amazing, but how is he on the mic? How are his promo skills?

These talents are investment for the future, and with the NXT system as is, guys who will be wrestling specifically on the Network. WWE might have some desire to get a few more hardcore indy fans to watch the Network, and at any rate has a desire to get guys who can GO at the level of the Shield, Daniel Bryan, and Cesaro have been in the last year (because that kind of workrate has been getting over). They especially have some investment in creating "homeland heroes" for Europe and Japan in preparation of the international rollout. Problem is though, those hardcore indy fans don't want to watch them (the loss of CM Punk emphasises this), they want wrasslin', and the European/Japanese fans too, Kurt Angle for example is or was a massive draw in Japan because he is an Olympic Gold Medalist. Regardless of what people may think, all people who watch indies aren't on Punk's d**k. I liked the guy but I'm not refusing to watch until he comes back, nor am I under any delusion he's actually coming back. Instead, when WWE started signing all of these people(especially since I get to watch NXT weekly now) I got excited and started watching MORE. They've got people like Bryan, Rollins, Ambrose, KENTA, Zayn, Neville, Cesaro, and others - it's a good sign for the future, which makes me want to continue watching. Add into that the fact that they're getting a little looser in what they allow, which results in matches like Punk/Cena, Punk/Bryan, Cesaro/Cena, Zayn/Cesaro, Neville/Kidd, etc etc...

Way past his best, woefully misused, apart from that, agreed.

They should just call him Prince Devitt It sounds cool and it's what he's best known as. No point replacing it with some new shit. I completely agree, it is a unique yet cool ring name. It will feel slightly weird not having it pronounced as "PRINCE DEEVIIITTTTTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" if they do keep it, after so long of me hearing it that way

It hasn't stopped them from putting on Great matches, and doing so on a much more regular basis than WWE has seen in YEARS. But yeah, I guess I shouldn't be excited for the future.

Really hoping he renames his Bloody Sunday finisher into something not incredibly stupid, but beyond that, aces. (Preemptively: Yes, it's a stupid name for a finisher, as stupid as if they teamed him with Sheamus and named them The Troubles. It's poor taste even by wrestling standards. Other than that, I'm excited for him to come in.) I would love a Sheamus/Devitt Team: The Belfast Bruisers. Managed by Dave "Fit" Finlay. And they whomp fools.

With all the money they've bled and the dreaded subscription number reveal coming up, I'm shocked they are still signing people. They probably negotiated before everything started trending downwards and it would be a PR disaster if they started pulling out of their agreements, but I would imagine this is going to be one of their last big signings for a while? At least I would imagine they've told Hunter he can't keep buying many more new, shiny indie toys for now. I think they should focus on MORE international heroes for the roster. Other countries to consider: -France: There is a decent sized French audience and France is one of the most populous, economically powerful countries in Europe. A French star would pay dividends compared to bringing up another American wrestler. -Germany: The same reason as France, essentially. Another European powerhouse with a lot of people. With a country that big, there has to be at least one good German signing available. -Brazil: Immense population, growing economy, and a class of people who have a lot of money to throw at stuff. Not sure how big wrestling is in the largest Portuguese-speaking country in the world, but it'd be foolish to ignore them. Send some feelers out there and find out what might work. -SOMEWHERE in the Arab world: Arab countries are a wildcard because what political and cultural disparities they have are largely compensated by overarching traditional unity. A star from...Saudi Arabia, for example...would not only bring in Saudi fans, but fans from Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Yemen, and other nearby countries. None of these countries are as individually valuable to WWE's business as France or Germany could be, but the trickle across borders would be a net gain. The audience IS there, otherwise it would've been impossible to tour there as they have before. -Turkey: Unlike the Arab states, this is just one country. One very big country that actually has a wrestling tradition that goes back to the days when Turkish people were a nomadic horse culture. Also, since most people in the US don't know anything about Turkey, I don't think a Turkish face would have any trouble whatsoever with getting over, as long as the character and the performer were up to par. -South Korea: Not as big as Japan, but definitely well-to-do. Not sure how big pro wrestling is in Korea, but IIRC it's growing, and Korea's got a large number of people who could afford a network subscription and go to shows on international tours. -Philippines: They sort of had this going with Dave Batista but could try it with someone young full-time. The Philippines is a big market for combat sports, and not just because Manny Pacquiao is a Filipino. The country's population is also huge. Not financially the most lucrative, but I doubt investing a little bit there would hurt. -Thailand: Another growing country that takes combat sports very seriously. Southeast Asia in general wouldn't be bad to invest in, but Thailand stands out because of its traditions. And maybe this is just the historian/geographer in me coming out, but the idea of a kickboxer with smoking pyro and piphat music would be an exotic gimmick that's never been done before. -Indonesia: A growing economy with an absolutely massive population. I have no numbers, not even anecdotes on how well it would work to have an Indonesian wrestler. But I'd send some scouts over there and probe the country for information, because in the next 50 years, Indonesia could have a very viable wrestling market worth investing into. -China: This is a no-brainer. Do I even need to explain why the Middle Kingdom is worth investing in? There's so much money in other countries. So many people. Even if only a tiny minority get network subscriptions, the network's numbers would jump in no time. But WWE's heavily American roster just doesn't cut the mustard with an international audience. There's a lot of reasons why the World Cup, Olympics and Eurovision are big draws. One of them is because every country likes to have a place in the world stage. And if wrestling is marketed properly, that shouldn't be a problem for WWE either.

If anything I think the Brazil market is worth cracking, its very untapped compared to say MMA for example.

Who names their kid Fergal? The same kind of people who name their kids Kevin, Sheamus, Coner, Ronan, Patrick, Aiden and Niall. You know, Irish people. They are not all called Pat and Mick.

Can someone explain to me how his face paint ties in with his character? Also would WWE let him use it?

Can someone explain to me how his face paint ties in with his character? Also would WWE let him use it? Started out as a Japanese anime character, then he did various characters and I doubt it, as they'd have to pay royalties, there was something over CM Punk's Pepsi tattoo I recall.

They might, since Kofi and Rey use all sorts of DC and Marvel characters for their gear and Cody was on Marvel.com talking about how his gear was based on Mr. Sinister. It might not make it to things like video games and action figures but he might do it for big PPVS.

The creative team are all later seen walking around with Shillelagh shaped welts in their heads.

They should have him use the body paint for big PPVs, it adds a certain mystique.
