We know WWE is doing well, great ratings and whatnot, seems it's possible to cater to that big market. Yet since the Monday night wars, all we've had as an alternative on US TV is TNA. And also ROH in some less mainstream TV capacity, I've known them more as a DVD company, I have attended their shows and I dig it, still an indie feel I'd say. And there was Wrestling Society X on MTV, incredibly bad of course.
The outlook is TNA might lose it's deal with Spike. My question either way is why TNA has been the only real attempt with money behind it since the end of WCW and ECW? And is it conceivable that some production company (like Turner with WCW) or whoever would fund a new attempt at a wrestling show? TNA tried it, but considering they've never really taken off, you'd think somebody else would give it a shot, considering it feels like there's a lot of money to be made.
And if it did happen, how do you think it'd work? I do think in some ways TNA is doing what any attempt would do, trying to bring in some big names from the past (ideally the recent past). And then I guess tried and true indie guys? Would it be possible to build a roster and also somehow build a new mainstream wrestling promotion with it's own feel? Or enough appeal to bring in some viewers?
Then again, it'd seem tough to do something like that from scratch, but it also doesn't seem like any of the indies including Ring of Honor at the moment could draw an audience in that ballpark. Not that they aren't great, just saying. Maybe if one got a great deal it could be the foundation of something new.
So what do you think, will it ever happen, or will we be still just talking about WWE and TNA (and maybe ROH) on TV for the next decade?

I think the best a company can hope for right now is to follow in RoH's footsteps and get a syndication deal from a big broadcast company

I don't think any wrestling company will touch mainstream TV with a bargepole after this, the only companies that could really afford to do it are New Japan and AAA.

I could see Spike throwing money at ROH if they ditch TNA. They could also conceivably put NJPW on the air in the US - that would be a pretty consistent source of programming, but it might interfere with NJPW's established iPPV deals.

Well Jarrett's GFW could be what replaces TNA if things don't end well with Spike. Either that TNA gets a different TV deal with Spike or else where. Jarrett could still get on somewhere else. Rumors there was the CMT network. So that something else to think about.
