I like the Stardust gimmick and even though it is influenced by the goldust gimmick I like the fact that Cody Rhodes is kind of making it his own so that it isn't just a carbon copy.
Does anyone else see true potential in this gimmick? I honestly think they could change the outfit a bit and go into more of a glam rock style. Maybe do silver and black instead of gold and black to differentiate him more from Goldust.
Maybe it won't get Cody to the world title but it would give him something to do and keep him from getting lost in the shuffle like his former tag team partner Damien Sandow who is basically being wasted right now.

I can see it being a gimmick Cody goes back to whenever the feud calls for it.

I like it, although I'm debating what the endgame of it is. Golddust has been Golddust for what? 15-20 years now? Prior to that he was Dustin Rhodes, good ol' Texas boy. He was able to reinvent the Golddust character several times to keep it current and interesting, and never really went back to being Dustin Rhodes ever again (not including TNA...that doesn't count).
While I don't see updating the character being a problem for Cody- at the end of the day Stardust rides on Golddust being the gimmick's foundation. Eventually Golddust is going to retire- he's 45 currently, which means he may, at very best, have 5 more ring years in him (I mean, I know we have 108 year old Flair out there every once in a while, but we all complain anytime he's in tights and the E knows it).
With that being said, I'm wondering if Stardust continues on without Golddust? (Although Golddust could always transition to the manager role) We've also had a couple of good Cody characters that he could always revert back to and potentially trade gimmicks from time to time- Dashing and Mustachioed demeanours in particular. I'd kinda like to see all three kept in rotation every couple of years.
Or heck. I'm always wanting another guy to bust out the Cactus Jack/Dude Love/Mankind rotation where you never quite know who you're getting any given night, and may even get 2 or more personalities in the same show.

Why is it that in every Stardust thread, people question where they are going with it. Cody was sort of spinning his wheels, and now he has something to do that the fans are digging. Why are we worried about where it's going years from now when we all know WWE certainly hasn't thought that far ahead about it?

I love it and don't care if it never goes anywhere. I want more weirdos on my wrestling shows. Weirdos and fat guys.

Why are we worried about where it's going years from now when we all know WWE certainly hasn't thought that far ahead about it? The fact that he never wrestles is weird. Maybe it was supposed to be short-term, but once Cody did the gimmick they said "hey, this is great. let's come up with something substantial," and the delay is because of that. People are wondering where it's going because it's literally gone nowhere so far, there's nothing but intrigue.

It could easily go somewhere, so long as they keep his in ring promos limited. Backstage vignettes are how you get a "weirdo" over.

If he goes heel, a Stardust/Grotesque gimmick would be sick.

I'm interested in what will Stardust do when he finds the Cosmic Key.

Seriously I love his facial reactions and those colored contacts in his eyes just add more to the creepy factor

Seriously I love his facial reactions and those colored contacts in his eyes just add more to the creepy factor It's one of the reasons when people ask for endgame I honestly don't care. Cody is immersing himself in this persona and it's amazing to watch. Glad you noticed it too. I LOVE his facial expressions, and also the way he talks to himself.

I'd like Cody to be the next Mick Foley in that he has a number of gimmicks he slips back too when the need arises.
Regular Cody. Masked Cody when he needs to be vicious and ruthless. Stardust Cody when he needs to get in the heads of opponents and play mind games. Dashing Cody when he needs to offer beauty tips.

I really enjoyed Cody's grotesque run so I hope Stardust doesn't become a permanent fixture. Cody can handle being a "normal" wrestler just fine, he doesn't need crazy face-paint and bodysuits.
That's not to say that I'm not digging Stardust, because I am, I just don't want this to be permanent.
This had better just be leading to a Cody vs Goldy feud, culminating in their dream Wrestlemania match they've both been begging for for years. They both deserve that.
