www.ewrestlingnews.com/news/update-on-the-massive-wwe-cuts-planned-the-company-may-lay-off-10-of-their-staffWWE is expected to announce mass layoffs tomorrow or Friday after they report their earnings for the second quarter, along with the WWE Network subscriber numbers. The number going around is that ten percent of the WWE staff will be let go. This could be due to the performance of the WWE Network. Usually when a company reports lower than expected numbers they announce layoffs to prevent Wall Street from selling off the stock. I don't check out wrestling news sites that much, so forgive me if this is blatant NEWZ Otherwise, sound off

There will be cuts for sure. 10% sounds a little steep though.

Maybe they should fire the writing staff and just have one or two actual wrestling bookers.

Maybe they should fire the writing staff and just have one or two actual wrestling bookers. It's not the writers fault, they just happen to take the blame. Even if they had a couple of bookers, all decisions would be made to entertain Vince and Dunn first and foremost. The product won't improve even if you get real wrestling people involved.

I meant that they are trying to save money, and one or two wrestling bookers could probably do the job of a roomful of Hollywood wannabes.

I meant that they are trying to save money, and one or two wrestling bookers could probably do the job of a roomful of Hollywood wannabes. How do we know they're Hollywood wannabes? It seems to me that a lot of people who have come out as being part of creative, are usually fans of the product. And really, I don't really want to see anyone lose their job when it's not going to improve things internally.

Just fire ADR. You still won't get all of the money you wasted pushing him so hard (when he is not a main event level talent from my view) but at least it would a good chunk of the 10%....

We know that they are Hollywood wannabes because people have actually posted WWE job listings online that state that the company wants that type of experience. It has also been revealed in shoot interviews of wrestlers. And yes, some of those Hollywood writers are fans of the product, but that is not the same as being a Booker that came up in the wrestling business and understands how it works internally. Also, if they are laid off these people can get normal jobs like the rest of us. Nothing entitles them to make a lot of money working in entertainment.

At the same time, there are MANY examples of wrestling people being so insular and oblivious to the world outside their bubble, that it goes the opposite direction. At any rate, a mass of people losing their jobs is never cool.

Maybe they should fire the writing staff and just have one or two actual wrestling bookers. But Stephanie has to have a huge staff to oversee, so she can have a cool title and a feeling of self-importance and a justifiably large salary.

I would release: Slater, ADR, Tensai, Booker T, The Funkadactyls, Darren Young, David Otunga, Ryback, Axel, The matadors, Justin gabriel, Mark Henry, Mysterio, Hunico, Scott Stanford, Titus O'Neil, Tamina, Tom Phillips, Tyson Kidd, and weed out the developmental system. I heard Corey Graves has had some bad concussion injuries. I love SJK and would hate to see him go, but start with him. Clean the nxt roster out. Let some of the corporate people go. Writers etc.

Super tacky to want someone to get released just because you don't like them. For shame, 543Y2J. Anyways, I know Kane has been a loyal soldier all these years. Let's let him be that loyal soldier one more time and have him retire for the greater good of everyone.

Also, if they are laid off these people can get normal jobs like the rest of us. Nothing entitles them to make a lot of money working in entertainment. Just because that's who they're looking for, doesn't mean it's always what they get. I would think that anyone who was oblivious to what WWE is, wouldn't want to work there. I would assume that many of the people who have talent in writing in other areas, are also fans. Booking and writing are entirely different things. Vince wants complete power over his talent, and the only way he can do that is to have them follow the steps he puts in place, specifically writing the feuds and promos for them. If you have just one or two bookers, you're just creating more work for them. It's obvious that the shows that are usually the most entertaining, are the ones that Vince pays the least attention to. And that last comment is quite conceded. Yeah, these people who are doing what they want to do and went to school should all suck it up and get "real" jobs like the rest of us.

Always good whenever the boss being an idiot who overestimated how much his product's worth comes back to bite the asses of the people just doing their jobs.
But yeah, I'm guessing the rumors that subscriptions have actually gone down since Mania might wind up being true then, if this pans out.
