I know we have some game show fans here (ones that are sensible and don't either A) ball bust and act like they're better than you, or B) casuals who still post their dream GSN schedules of nothing but things from the '80s and back, and make up fictional shows starring cartoon characters). Also, as I am reading Adam Nedeff's EXCELLENT Bill Cullen bio, this show is somehow fresh in my head as well.
Don't read the comments unless you want to end up banging your head against a wall (har, har, Obama/name your politician should be on it, rinse and repeat). However, I will mention from there a certain "SoCalGuy" who claims to have worked on the 2000 version with John O'Hurley, and remarks that him and other staff members were "glad it was dead." Any GS enthusiast have the rest of the tale?
Back to the show..."higher stakes" twist? Just like with Password, "Million Dollar Truth" might be too extreme, and Family Feud still does $5 a point for losers of Fast Money, and has done so since the pilot in 1976, plus has not gone beyond $20,000 for 12+ years with the exception of one year. And they still do decently in the ratings. BUT, that brings me to the next point. The 2000-01 run of TTTT started getting into the risqué material, and since Steve Harvey Feud has been a huge success for Fremantle, it might be tempting to go that route here too.
Oh, and can we please have a ban on Paula Poundstone appearing on this version?? OTOH, O'Hurley I wouldn't mind reprising his hosting duties if he's not too busy. He was the first decent host they found in the Pearson/Fremantle era starting in 1998.
