only an extra 33000 network subscribers ,let the cull begin
WWE Corporate has published the 2014 Second Quarter Results for WWE, prior to the quarterly conference call later today.
To summarise the publication, the WWE Network has attracted an extra 161,000 subscribers since WrestleMania on April 6th and ended the quarter at 700,000 subscribers, reflecting a net addition of 33,000 subscribers. WWE indicates that 91% of subscribers access the network at least once per week and use 2.5 devices to consume network content.
Aswell as this number, WWE annouced in the press release that the WWE Network WILL be available globally starting August 12th.

On the plus side, a Network release in Australia is apparently less than two weeks away. If the price is good, I'm in.

While it looks like we are getting the global launch of the Network much sooner than expected, I hope they aren't budgeting unrealistic numbers for these markets like they did for the domestic numbers.

I'm not sure if that means a definite August 12 start for us, but unfortunately it's still a few months away for the UK. Canada are getting their own arrangement, apparently. www.wwe.com/inside/rogers-communications-wwe-network-agreement-26531352

Dammit, WWE. You stole Kenta and Price Devitt from us; at least let us subscribe to the frickin' Network so we can still see them!

I think Sky will have a similar arrangement to Rogers, maybe creating "Sky Sports WWE" or something like that.
128,000 subscribers managed to cancel their subscriptions, either by letting their credit/debit cards expire, or by using PayPal to stop payment.

From 411mania - "The Company will also introduce new payment plans in August, including a $19.99 monthly plan (with no commitment) and an upfront one-time payment option for its existing $9.99 per month offering (with six month commitment). Read more at www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/330556/WWE-Financials:-WWE-Network-Subscribers-at-700,000.htm#S87LqKpfVPq50kkj.99" I'm hoping they're not introducing these to replace the monthly $9.99 plan, although I would understand why they would. With people being able to circumvent the monthly renewal, I don't see the $19.99 option being very successful. If they replace the $9.99 w/6 month commitment plan, though, I'm probably out after my sub is up.

They might tweak the six-month plan to be an up-front single payment for the six months to prevent people circumventing the monthly renewals.

Yeah, they're doing this because people found a way to stop paying every month, so you're either paying $19.99 for a month's access, or $59.94 in order to get six months.

I don't blame WWE for anything that puts a stop to it. The number they got isn't bad, right?

The number doesn't seem too bad to me. 700k subscribers at this stage isn't what they were expecting pre-launch, but I'm sure they have more realistic expectations at this point.

I'm mainly just speaking personally, but with 2 kids and whatnot the $10/month is more feasible than $60 up front. It wouldn't be hard to just put the money aside, though. Also I guess on second thought, the $20 for a single month is STILL a great deal considering you'd get at least one PPV along with that rather than paying $60 for each monthly PPV. So there it is, as always, I'm wrong about everything. My wife is right.

"Shall we decimate them? That sounds good. Nice word, "decimate". Remove one tenth of the population!" Isn't that exactly what the WWE is planning on doing to its workforce?

"Over-the-top"? Like, over the top rope? Do we have to win the Royal Rumble to get the WWE Network?
