Goldberg et al wishing a terminally ill 6yearold a happybday

Massive massive amount of respect to Goldberg for doing this. Yes he had one or two problems backstage during his career but damn overall in this (and in other things I have seen of him) he comes across so damn genuine. Danny Nickerson, a terminally ill boy fighting cancer gained coverage and attention across the internet when it came out that all he wanted for his birthday were birthday cards. His birthday was on July 25th and because of it going viral he received thousands from across the world, including the stars/hall of famers in the video below.



Goldberg doesn't even know if he is a fan or not but thought he would get the group to sign the card for him! You could tell how much he loves his family and he would hate for anyone to go through that. It gets to me (in a good way) when I see such a big giant like him (and ZEUS) breakdown like that, gentle giants.

Not all of this story is positive though as Scott Hall for some reason didn't want to sign the birthday card....

People weren't pleased...

- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Scott Hall got a lot of heat after he refused to sign a card for a six-year-old fighting terminal cancer. The boy, Danny Nickerson, is from Boston and at an autograph convention in Phoenix just about everyone there signed the card. The list included Bret Hart, Edge, Christy Hemme, Candice Michelle, Angelina Love, Lita, Sean Waltman, Maria Kanellis, Lisa Marie Varon, Taryn Terrell and Brooke Tessmacher and more, many of whom went on camera to give personalized wishes. You can see the video, which includes Goldberg being particularly emotional and saying to call him any time if he wanted to talk, below.

Hall refused to sign the card, which generated a ton of heat on him. The reaction from several people was that it was not only "incomprehensible" on its face, but also that Hall is particularly in the wrong because after all of his personal demons he got fans to pay for several surgeries through crowdfunding.

I've always been a huge Goldberg fan, but this just makes me respect him even more. What a good dude.

I said this in another thread, but if that's true about Scott Hall, I wish nothing but the worst for that guy. At this point, he's used up all of his 'second chances'.

Yeah, Hall's a scumbag. Fans on the internet literally pay to save his life, then this. After his surgery got paid for, one of the fans requested he talk about it on Konnan's podcast. Hall responded saying he would only appear if they paid him to do it. Ungrateful.

Hell, I don't even care about the surgery aspect, to me, that isn't the point so much as that he had NOTHING to lose by signing this. He didn't have to go out of his way at all to do it, and he basically told the kid to f*** off by blowing it off entirely. That's inexcusable. It's not even like the kid is going to just sell it or something, so it's not a financial thing or otherwise excusable on any grounds.

Exactly. While I doubt the kid missed it, given he got so many good signatures and people who give a shit about someone other than themselves to do something nice for him, it's just a bad move overall.

It was shitty of him to do, and furthermore, it whittled away at what little respect and good will he might have left with fans.

I can think of people guilty of far worse sins than Hall's who would have signed that card in a heartbeat, without being prompted. I'm increasingly of the opinion that Hall is not merely your garden-variety alcoholic, but has some form of personality disorder underneath that addiction.

I wouldn't doubt that there's more to it than that, but it doesn't make it any less despicable to people, certainly.

Certainly there's more to the story, but honestly no matter the rationale, dude had to go further out of his way NOT to sign than to quickly do something nice.
