I think it's great that now they'll be able to do more in terms of insuring athletes, making sure they're fed year-round, and providing for them to better educate and prepare themselves for life after football. At the same time the ruling will obviously create a rich-get-richer scenario, increasing competitive imbalance. What I'm interested to see is how the many college sports that don't make money will be affected, do they start getting eliminated? LOL they already are man. Just remember Title IX though. So if schools have to cut from the athletic department more than likely it'll be more mens sports. This ruling is good though in that they can actually offer the total cost of attendance (room and board, food, books, classes) and not some arbitrarily limited number determined by the NCAA. When it comes to the whole "likeness usage" part of the injunction, that really is only going to come into effect if your team in on TV. I can imagine most teams already took names off the jersey's they sell. So basically if you are in D2 (or whatever abbreviation they use now for it) yeah you ain't getting nothing. Remember the money can only come from use of your likeness. If they don't sell your jersey and you don't have TV income coming in you can't put no money into the trust as there's no income generated from your likeness. Hell even the ones that will get paid don't get a dime till they graduate/leave school. Which brings up the thought I just had. Similar to working a job, if you get kicked out due to breaking rules or committing a crime do you still get your money. Basically the ruling today plus the one the NCAA made saying the power 5 conferences can set their own rules.....basically if you aren't in the Big 10,12 SEC, ACC, or PAC 12 you just got knocked down to a lower division. Division 1 are those 5 conferences and that's it. The days of Boise St., Northern Illinois, and the like having a shot at being a major player will be done in a couple years.

Unfortunately that's more or less true now. Division 1 for all intents and purposes has 3 sub-divisions now; Power 5, FBS(made up of everyone not in the Power 5), and the FCS.

Notre Dame sitting pretty at 17, with one of the Toughest Schedules in the Nation This is going to be an agonizing season to watch for me... so essentially the normal Notre Dame Season for me the past few years...
Also I'm a sucker for new Teams, and I can't wait to see how the new Blood takes to the new Divisions. Not gonna lie, I want Appalachian State to beat Michigan Week 1... can't blame me being an Irish Fan, it was one of the greatest College Football Moments for me when they did it before
As for Penn State, my Local Team and as the College I went to, I just hope that they can look good and build coming out of their last year of Sanctions. 4 Years of hell for that School final ending, finally time for them to move on.

This just makes the gap a little bigger and makes those underdog schools that have come from no where the past 10 years or so non existent. Which, to be honest, is exactly what the Power 5 conference reps and AD's want.

It would have to have one of non-Power 5 FBS schools scheduling a non-conference schedule of nothing but Power 5 schools(didn't say they have to be the GOOD teams in those conferences), and at most losing just one of those Power 5 games and then sweeping their own conference schedule to even hope for a bid in the playoff. And even then they'll probably need the help of some of the Power 5 conferences laying some eggs.....

And this is why we can't have nice things Eh ya gotta dude that shoplifted crab legs and was on trial for rape, you have to know people are gonna make jokes there-in. That's Florid State's fault for not realizing that. Besides, what else are you gonna ask a college qb that he's not gonna give stock cliche answers too?

Pittsburgh plans to use sophomore WR Tyler Boyd on punt returns in the fall, and is not concerned with the possibility of increasing his chance of injury.

Ya, considering the offseason he had this was just moronic. Hell just the interview he did after the championship game begs for people to be smartasses.

Old man grumbling ahead: yesterday I aimlessly said of FSU's fool hearty attempt at PR for Famous Jaemis "this is why we can't have nice things". This statement was met with the type of cynicism and general jackassery that the twitter replies to Ask Jaemis was chocked full of. You self entitled little punk kids these days with your tweeters, face space and my-book! You launch into some celebrity like he wasn't in fact God of the moment? Dare you?!
Anyway in retrospect I spoke off handedly yesterday and did not give a second thought to how stupid and short sighted FSU was in holding him up in such a public way. I earned what I got and certainly so did FSU
