in Guardians of the Galaxy.
No spoilers, but it's a great time at the theater. Marvel Studios usually knocks it out of the park, and this one I think will have some legs beyond just superhero fare.
But the thing I was most surprised about was Batista's turn as Drax. He really imbued the role with a lot more charm and pathos than I expected. I knew he'd do the big asskicker part of the character well, but Dave brought some acting and humor to the proceedings as well.
It'll be interesting to see if maybe they're able to bring him back face, now that he'll be outta the storm of Daniel Bryan stuff.

I would read a comic book about Douchebag Dave in full "DEAL WIH IT!!!" mode.

Just remember, everyone: HHH wants GOTG to fail.
Dave was quite good. I enjoyed Drax's inability to grasp metaphors.

I think that Batista earned back a lot of audience goodwill with his epic goodbye wave.

I think that Batista earned back a lot of audience goodwill with his epic goodbye wave. As evidenced by those fans in the background doing the YES! taunt as he's doing his epic wave.

Batista can be an awesome face if they let him be Douchetista or a bit like CM Punk. When he was being an utter cock to HHH and Stephanie in the build to WrestleMania, the crowd loved it. They don't want 2006 Batista anymore, they want The Douche.

I think he'll be fine if he comes back. Everyone was up for his return when news broke, especially after how good his work was before he left. Had Big Dave not taken a spot many of us wanted Bryan to be in, I'm doubtful whether he would have gotten boo'd at all.

Batista would be incredible if they let him just be himself instead of "serious musclehead #638749553."

He was also good in Man with the Iron Fists as one of the main heels.

If Batista wasn't in the title picture, they probably would've tried to position him as being "bigger than the belt" which wouldn't have sat well with fans either.

I haven't been to see it yet because I refuse to go to my towns shitty cinema after spending most of winter solider straining to hear what was going on so going to have to take the train to somewhere with a decent Cinema - going to make a day out of it and catch dawn of the planet of the apes too)
I was rather gutted today when I went to Subway and so they were running a Guardians promo on the kids meal I looked up at the poster on the menu board and the picture of Drax doesn't actually use Batistas likeness (Starlord was covered by a mask as well)
I was so gutted, I wanted to be like "hey thats Bootista on the poster in subway" i guess rights to the films tie in doesn't actually mean they have rights to Batista and Pratt likeness.

Oh man, I hope Batista comes back as a Hollywood heel. Miz could be his sidekick who sucks up to him and considers himself of equal stature, which Batista annoyingly rolls his eyes at.

I joked to my brother that Batista needs to come back and feud with Miz over who the bigger Hollywood douche is. Batista being good in something isn't a shock to me though. I thought he was great in the cheesy RVD flick Wrong Side of Town as Big Ronnie.

As I said on the GOTG thread, Big Dave OWNS as Drax and it's great to see him do well being part of the Marvel Universe

It certainly can't be credited to pure acting ability... I mean, the dude is obviously lacking there... but I think the movie plays to that well by making him such an enthusiastically cliche warrior dude that you can't help but smile. His misunderstanding of subtlety, sarcasm, and metaphor is brilliant and endearing.

Not really, as I'm specifically wondering if they'll build on that for his character when he comes back to WWE.

He isn't a great actor but he does have a good sense of comedic timing, hence stuff like the wave, the Wrestlemania press conference etc. I thought he was much better in this than The Man With The Iron Fists.
