Sorry that I don't have audio for this (you can go On Demand on Sirius XM's website if you have a subscription), but I flicked on my XM today and heard a repeat episode from earlier this week of Sam, who works on and hosts some shows on the former Opie and Anthony channel, having an interview with all four guys to promote the Impact tapings. Sam's a huge wrestling fan, apparently he's even shown up on some stuff on WWE Network.
I didn't get to hear the entire thing, and if anybody did and could share what they thought it'd be highly appreciated, but the big take away I got from it is that, apparently, the current creative team in TNA spent the NYC tapings telling the wrestlers "We're going to step back and let you guys do what you do best more often", or so Ki says he was told. Thought this could prove interesting, as the NYC episodes seem to be bearing this out.
MVP talked for awhile about the type of schedule you can have away from the WWE, and how you can still have satisfaction outside of the mainstream US spotlight. Ki agreed, said he was thrilled when he got out of WWE, because he realized how unhappy he had been there.
Joe sounded measured at times; I could sense he wanted to let lose about some frustrations concerning TNA, but obviously he wasn't about to do that while promoting a series of shows that could make or break the company.
Best part, probably: Sam admits to Homicide that he needs to ask him a "wiseass question", and he brings up the big red cage match from the first Monday night episode of Impact back in 2010. Each wrestler agrees that the entire concept for the match was absurd, 'Cide admits how humiliating it was, and 'Cide says that afterward he wanted to kill Vince Russo...then quickly catches himself and says "I like the guy, but I was gonna kill him."
Again, wish I had heard more, it seemed like interesting stuff and the guys seemed pretty open about the possibility that there could be huge changes in store for the company.
Anybody hear the entire thing? I can't hear it On Demand yet, but I intend to.
