I want to play a game. (doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot) Doing a Saw marathon after my attention was rekindled with the announcement of the Complete Saw Collection coming to Blu-ray and DVD next month. (doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot) (doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot) And also to help me stay awake on a night off before a work night. (doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot) What's your favorite Saw movie, FAN? (daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) Mine is Saw 4.

With each Saw movie I have another drink of vodka and another bowl of popcorn (at Saw III now). Maybe at this rate even Saw V will be marginally decent.

The only ones I really like are the first two. I would say my favorite is part one.

1 and 2, then everything else.
2 is better than 1 because of how much Tobin Bell (the best part of every movie) is actively in it, but 1 is just great as a solo movie and as a franchise foundation.
It does get rough in the last 2 or 3 movies, because the acting is not really good (a recent re-viewing nearly killed the wonder of the last movie for me). But early on, it's all quite good.

I tend to agree with this, but I like 1 a little better just because after that, you were expecting them to have some sort of big twist ending.

1 and 2 are both great, and then I like the one with the black cop.

1 and 2 are both excellent. The rest are ok but kinda blend into one. I remember events/storylines from the others but can't place which movie they are from. Like the storyline of Amanda setting traps of her own with no escape for the competitor. I couldn't tell you which Saw film that one is.

Saw II. I love horror films that have a group of people stuck in one place together. It has some of my moments/lines of the series in it(Anything Xavier says is great. "Do... Not... Run.") Of course it stars Donnie... Donnie Wahlberg from The New Kids On The Block, so that's like bonus fries.
From there I'd go: Saw Saw IV(This and Saw are pretty interchangeable for second) Saw VI Saw III Saw: The Final Chapter Saw V

The first, the sequels, while not always bad, were pretty much unnecessary, especially after 3. And with that said, paradoxically my second favourite film in the franchise is IV as I feel it was the closest in atmosphere to the original, plus the story and characters were actually interesting for a change. Here's my opinion on them all in a nutshell: {Spoiler}{Spoilered for size}Saw - Absolutely awesome. A classic that all horror fans should watch.
Saw II - It was okay but a bit too generic and predictable for my taste. What I liked about the first one is how often it took you by surprise. This one was much more by-the-book.
Saw III - Meh. Just didn't do anything for me as I just couldn't bring myself to care about Jeff and the rest of the story was pretty weak as well.
Saw IV - Very good, almost as much as the first, in fact. Like I said earlier, feels a lot more like the original than the previous two films and I actually cared about the characters and the story.
Saw V - Meh again. Really all I can remember about it is how I wish Strahm had lived as I felt the franchise really needed a genuinely good guy to rejuvenate itself and avoid becoming the "asshole versus asshole, who am I supposed to care about?" kind of films that too many horror flicks are.
Saw VI - Saw does hamfisted political allegory! NO. You don't do that when you're this incompetent. The whole thing feels like a revenge fantasy and ha pretty much become what people who never watched these films claim they are: torture porn. I hate that term but I can't deny it is as the plot was tailor-made to show as much gore and torture as possible, with the story only being an excuse to reach the gory bits and ensure at least one death per scene. And because it's established right away that at least one person will die each time, there is no build-up or tension. It's not scary when we already KNOW how each scene will end, is it? And of course, it might have helped if we got any kind of character development that might at least make us care about who will die or survive. To think that such a crass movie would attempt a serious social message is frankly baffling, and that's coming from something who agrees with their stance, but the way they went about it is absolutely awful. It reads like some bad wish-fulfilment story a 15-year-old would write. Plus the film is stupid with countless plot holes and nonsensical moments. And yet all I hear is how great it was and how it "put the franchise back on the right tracks". Surely I can't be the only one who hates it and thinks it's the worst of the franchise?
Saw VII/3D - Just awful. It's blatant that it's two movies mashed together and as a result there is no focus on anything. Plus it feels like everyone involved just wanted to get it over with as it feels very rushed. And again, the story is nothing but an excuse to show gore with even less of a point behind the deaths than in VI, and it's not even well-executed gore so who cares? Oh but they did manage to ruin the character of Dr. Gordon so there's that at least. The only reason I don't consider it as bad as VI is that it's barely a movie. The main plot really doesn't start until about halfway through the film and everything else feels like a clip show from movies we haven't seen. Scenes have barely any connection to one another, plot threads come and go with no rhyme or reason, characters we've never seen are introduced then never brought up again and almost nothing has a satisfying payoff.

First one was great, II wasn't up to the level of the first one but was still very good, III was good but was getting a bit too heavy into the "torture porn" side of things. IV and V sucked, with V being the nadir of the series (as is often the case with horror franchises - see also Halloween and the Friday the 13th). VI was entertaining, and VII was pretty bad. Though I think that even the worst films in the series are still perfectly watchable, if uncomfortably mean-spirited at times.

The first Saw is by far the best. I'd rank them in this order:
Saw > Saw II > Saw VI > Saw V > Saw III > Saw 3D > Saw IV

Liked the 2nd one a tad more then the first. Thought they were pretty good movies.
Just quit caring after the 4th one.

The first one, simply because of the funny lines. 'I don't care if you covered yourself in peanut butter and had a thirteen hooker gang bang.'

Honestly I mostly liked the first one because it was refreshing to have a horror movie whose main characters you actually wanted to live despite their flaws. See, Eli Roth and countless other directors who ape his style? It IS possible to make flawed characters who are still likeable!

The first one easily. It was a rare original concept in a genre that is rife with imitation and knock offs, and there was a greater emphasis on characterization and psychological thrills than on pure visual effects. From there on the whole series just devolved into an unending stream of gross out effects.

Not a big fan of the franchise, but I think I like 2 a little more than 1, just since I like Shawnee Smith and thought the needle spot was more visceral than anything really was from the first movie. Though, I do like Cary Elwes and enjoyed seeing him get work in the first film, though he delivers a line so badly at one point, I watched it like 30 times over the years and it makes me laugh every time, when he yells into the phone and realizes it is his wife on the other side. "ALLIE?!" I really wish I had that clip.
Beyond that, I do have to admit I was troubled by some of the revelations of 2. So, a dying man was able to carry Dr. Lawrence and others into these locations all by himself? I guess he had one or two followers by then, but that doesn't explain how he did it before the jaw trap, or with the morbidly obese man.
What about how he punishes people he feels deserve it? In 2, I get he is punishing the father of the kid, the crooked cop, but fat lot of good that does the kid who is trapped in there with the rest. It's a bit f***ed up for him to try to claim any moral highground at that point, but I guess serial killers aren't known for their consistency in ethics.

I think just about everyone likes the original best. I like them all, but 3 and 6 are the sequels that come closest to my opinion of the first one. I REALLY like Saw 3 as far as that film series goes.

Saw Saw 3 Saw 2 Saw 6 Saw 5 (I can't really remember anything about this one) Saw 7 (They made the twist really predictable. Should of never announced his return and only used him for the last scene) Saw 4 (Hated it)

So last night I was at work
(doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot)
They said they needed someone to go home at 11pm and be on call until 4am (I would've worked until 7am)
(doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot)
The timer started at 11:30pm, for the next 4 and a half hours my fate was in the hands of others
(doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot)
In this time I indulged myself in concluding my Saw-a-thon, watching Saw V and Saw VI and Saw VII
(doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot)
Seeing it again, with all the movies together, I gained a new appreciation for Saw V and the Hoffman character
(doo doo dooot, doo doo doot, doo doo doot doot doot)
Who I think might be the Jeff Jarrett of Saw movies
(daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa)
