On a regular old episode of Impact in the Impact Zone instead of actually making any money at the gate or PPV off of it?
Also it really shouldn't have happened anyway because as the Flair related cliche goes, leave the memories alone, but if you're going to do it at least do it right.

Seriously one of the saddest matches I've ever seen.

They had a match on Nitro in June 1999 which was WAY BETTER.

Shit, it reminds you of the closing scene of The Wrestler.

Man I feel bad for Flair when watching that. Had destroyed his shoulder so couldn't work out leaving his body to go shit, gets talked into a match against Sting and looks so bad that Spike sends down a rule that he was no longer allowed on TV without a shirt.
Granted it was his own damned fault but I still pity him seeing that.

They did the same with Foley/Flair. That match still had some heat, the match they had was actually a lot better than the ones they had in WWE, and TNA wasted it on a ten minute Impact segment that meant they had to blow through the spots. They could've popped a buy or two with that shit.

They did the same with Hogan/Flair (Flair's 1st match since the 2008 HoF), IIRC....
TNA likes giving us stuff for free.........which IS nice, until you realize they probably need the money they could've charged the viewers more.

With a good editing job, you could make that look much better. Say, as a three minute highlight package. Because they hit most of the old spots, the execution is decent enough. But with the whole thing, what hurts it the most is seeing poor Flair between those spots, pulling himself up the ropes and plodding around slowly and sweating with zero emotion and energy because he's concentrating on not keeling over from lack of oxygen. Going through the motions completely, not because I think he doesn't care but because he can barely do it anymore. Sting's game but Flair's stuff has no snap, and I can't blame him a single bit for that but that's why it wasn't a great idea. I've felt the same way about that (much worse) Hogan-Warrior Havoc '98 bout. Chop it into a highlight vid and it'd look at least passable. It's the 15 seconds of action followed by two minutes of stalling and panting for air that make it so much worse. They had a match on Nitro in June 1999 which was WAY BETTER. Yes, plus a HOT crowd for that one. The April 1999 was real good too.

Friendly reminder these are the same people that put Sharmell vs Jenna Morasca on pay-per-view.
