Welp. Out of nowhere, United swoop in and reportedly sign Radamel Falcao from Monaco for €61M and a four-year deal.
This is all according to journalists in Colombia.
Apparently, Monaco backed out of a proposed loan deal with Real when they heard that City wanted him on a permanent, but then couldn't get it done because of Fair Play rules. That's when United entered the picture.
If this is true, the rumours of RVP needing surgery and being on the shelf long term are probably accurate.

Is that Falcao deal agreed or United just making a bid? It would be a huge signing, but with some risk attached to it. He's just back from a long-term injury and now making a switch to a supposedly much more physical league.

He's just back from a long-term injury and now making a switch to a supposedly much more physical league. The bid is confirmed. Four independent sources from Colombia, including ESPN Deportes' Andres Marocco, are reporting that the deal is done and he's headed to Manchester for a physical. In unrelated news, there is plenty of speculation here in Toronto that Jermain Defoe is headed to QPR.

It could be, but surely up front isn't the area that's causing your problems. Falcao, Robin van Persie, Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Angel Di Maria. Who plays where, who gets the ball to them and who stops them going in the other end?

It's okay signing world class players but you can't just put them into a team and tell them to go out and play, hoping for the best.

It also doesn't help long term development, one of the few shining lights last season was Adnan Januzaj, what happens to him?

My question is what's going on with Monaco? Last summer they had crap loads of cash brought Falcao and Rodriguez and now they are leaving even though Monaco have Champions League football. I'm guessing Monaco was just a novelty for a season then.

I'm guessing Monaco was just a novelty for a season then. I know, it's bizarre, maybe their immunity to French tax laws ended so they'll be paid less if they stay? I know that's been a thorny issue. Either that or they hate the management structure now, some clubs when they suddenly get rich do become a mess internally.

Reports over the weekend suggested 11 players would be coming and going by the end of today, and it's definitely looking that way. With this deal coming out of nowhere, I wouldn't be surprised to see another 3 or 4 players come in to fill the positions that need fixing.

Well, hope they gel for you then, can't say I'm hopeful that half a team being signed in 2 weeks will be a well oiled machine right off the bat.

Looks like United will get Blind from Ajax but a lack of depth defensively will cost them. Dat forward line though...DAMMMMN!

I honestly don't expect things to improve, performance-wise, for a couple of months. If we can grind out a half-decent run of form up to Christmas, I would hope we can push on in the second half of the season. After all, it's not as if the well-oiled machine of the last 12 months has been doing any better. In other news: Good move for Richards, I think. More English players need to step outside their comfort zone in the EPL and play abroad.

It's true, Ashley Cole could have gone down the league to a lesser team, instead he's in a title chasing squad again. English players do get a bit comfortable here, they'd prefer to drop down a level rather than take a risk and try abroad.

It frustrates me that young English players seem quite content to sit on the bench or coast at a lower level than go abroad and learn different styles of play. Is Tom Ince really going to improve all that much as a player at Hull (no disrespect to them) than he would at Inter?

Even just in terms of life experience, a chance to live in a fantastic city, learn a new language and culture and expand your horizons as a person. Or go to Hull.
