and is among the most watched cable series in key male demos in its timeslot. Now that's REALLY being subjective there Dixie, especially considering you guys put out a press release talking about how Impact last week drew 1.6 million viewers in the P2+ demo (aka anyone between the age of 2 and a million)

Could also just mean that Spike wants to get it's Thursday programming in place before Smackdown and the NFL show up so they can actually promote it before they end completely giving up on that time slot.
It's why soon to be cancelled shows get jerked around before they go. Networks are trying to get people conditioned to what's gonna be there in the future. Fall TV season is starting up soon, and the fact that Spike hasn't put out it's lineup yet is not a good thing for them. They are #15 on cable now with plans to go up. Can't go up much if you can't promote when shows are going to be on less than 1 month away from the new season.

Being shifted around the schedule is something that tends to happen more when faith is lost in a program than otherwise. "Moving IMPACT WRESTLING to Wednesday nights gives existing fans and new viewers an opportunity to enjoy both wrestling and live sports even more throughout the week," said TNA President Dixie Carter. This is just... nonsensical. "Even more"? I don't even understand what she's attempting to communicate.

Seems like a last ditch effort to see if they can get ratings to go up somehow. This will probably make them slip below a 1.0 permanently. If there has been ratings growth all summer then what sense does it make to move to a new night?

Whatever, as long as the Cops pre-show still takes place. Will the COPS post-show stick around too?

DIXIE CARTER COMMENTS ON IMPACT WRESTLING TIMESLOT MOVE by Mike Johnson @ 6:27 PM on 8/14/2014 TNA issued the following, confirming our report of the timeslot move for Impact Wrestling: IMPACT WRESTLING MOVING TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT 9/8C ON SPIKE TV BEGINNING NEXT WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20 NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 14, 2014) – TNA today announced its flagship program, IMPACT WRESTLING, will make a permanent move to Wednesday nights at 9/8c on SPIKE TV beginning next Wednesday, Aug. 20. "Moving IMPACT WRESTLING to Wednesday nights gives existing fans and new viewers an opportunity to enjoy both wrestling and live sports even more throughout the week," said TNA President Dixie Carter. Ah, Dixie's press stuff is always good for a laugh. "We were worried a TNA fan might not get to see some football, so we moved so they could watch that lil ol NFL too."

Yes, because that's worked with dozens of shows flagging in the ratings. Changing when it airs.

That's a good point: Thursday Night Football won't be cable-exclusive anymore starting this season, as I think CBS is carrying some of the games (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). If Impact is truly done on Spike come October, then it'd be senseless to move it; if a show is done for, why not leave it in a death slot? Doesn't mean a Spike deal is happening, but Spike seems to be hedging its bets just in case.

Regardless of why it's happening, TNA did a piss poor job hyping it up on Impact. Like, you couldn't have at least thrown some pre-taped footage of JB or someone announcing that your show is switching to a different day after several years? Wrestling fans are creatures of habit, you can't just assume all of your fans know that you are switching days and just mention it in passing. You can show a million clips of Dixie Carter going through a table but you can't do that? Talk about giving up.
I'm just saying, I know it's annoying and they overdo it for sure but there is a good reason why WWE feels the need to explain the same thing over and over again on their TV shows. YES, a good chunk of wrestling fans are that dumb and need to have information pounded into their head at every passing moment in order for them to retain it.

Doesn't mean a Spike deal is happening, but Spike seems to be hedging its bets just in case. Like someone else said, Spike could just be getting a lineup secured before the season starts. Doing a whole new lineup in the middle of the season, isn't that smart. Get something established so that when the season starts more fans are watching Spike, than if you tried a brand new lineup. It was Spike's call, and it was made today. So TNA couldn't go back and edit anything in.

Why are they moving it SO fast?
Why not give them a chance to at least let the viewers know they're moving? At least give them a couple episodes to let people know.
