Just speaking for books as digital media, creators get WAY more of the royalties that way (at least indy creators do). Music is the same, when done by the creators themselves without the middle man. Selling from an artist-owned online store is the only way the indies make money from music sales at all, and even then it's still concerts and sales of other merch earning them a lot more. For information's sake Bandcamp gives artists about 85-90%.

I hate most digital distribution and the idea that it may become the primary way to distribute media. I do like the convenience of it and the fact that it can never be "sold out" on the first day. What I don't like is that you'd need to have an internet connection, that it could be pulled down and never be downloadable ever again, that you can never actually "own" the item(just the license), and servers arean't forever. Just speaking for books as digital media, creators get WAY more of the royalties that way (at least indy creators do). I'm mostly talking about video games and movies.

"Feels" is one of the stupidest words I have ever seen in my life, and I don't know why people are too lazy to put "ing" in between the "l" and "s".

Fair enough, I just like 70% royalties of Kindle vs the 40% and production costs of my paperbacks. Though I welcome ALL royalties, and any readers/business. Sorry, shill reflex.

I hate literally all Let's Players and the Let's Play phenomenon. Don't bother trying to show me your favorite like it'll change my mind. It won't. I'm only interested in the gameplay but now it's hard to find videos of just gameplay without some loud jackass with a shitty nerdy voice mouth-breathing and hollering over the footage. The only exception is if it's someone making an informational video who knows their shit, doesn't talk too much, and has a pleasant voice. I also dislike the entire genre of JRPGs because almost none of them are as good as I feel the genre should be. It could be a playable epic with tons of character development, something that creates a world you want to get lost in, but instead it's a genre so tied in convention that if you've played one you've played almost all of them. The only JRPG that I feel did EVERYTHING right was Lost Odyssey. Great writing, characters I grew to love, fun gameplay, beautiful graphics and music, and a moving story. Well, several moving stories. It is the only JRPG I can recommend wholeheartedly with no caveats or anything else, because it speaks for itself. And speaking of JRPGs and unpopular opinions, I f***ing LOATHE Persona 4, which bums me out because I can't even find like ONE person who agrees with me. The gameplay was simply passable (and barely part of the actual game), the music became grating after a while, the characters and social links were almost all just anime stereotypes, yet it gets so much love. Probably because it's tailor-made for weeaboos and they are the worst. If you are going to make 90% of your game be reading, please let the writing be good. That's all I'm asking. To counteract all of the negativity, I unconditionally love pictures of dogs in yearbooks.

For most part I agree
the one exception is a guy called AlphaOmegaSin, I love his commentary as he plays Resident Evil 2

The Lord Of The Rings movies bored the shit out of me
same for Woody Allen's films and Diabolique
I hate Magnolia, Trainspotting, Princess Mononoke and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
I really liked The Spirit Squad, The Boogeyman and most of Russo's booking in WWF and TNA
Jack and Jill wasn't that bad, I'm not saying it was great or anything but it certainly doesn't deserve to be called one of the worst movies ever
Hitchcock's Notorious is overrated
I really liked Man of Steel too
I think The Avengers is slightly overrated

I never got the appeal of Rouge-like type games. It really takes out the whole idea of strategy and makes it about luck.

I don't think there's zero strategy, but I do agree that luck plays a huge part in it. Mostly, rogue-likes require you to be extremely careful and methodical and willing to learn from your mistakes.

Drake's music is awesome. Same deal with Chief Keef. They get hate from people who don't get them, and that sucks.

Online shopping is the dumbest stuff ever. How is it convient when you can just drive to your local store and get the same thing without having to pay all of the extra fees as well as not having to wait a week before even getting it?

What if you can't find the thing you want to buy locally? I would buy Russian dolls for a friend of mine that she would absolutely love but there's no way I could get that shit at Build-A-Bear.

Some franchises may not have nearby stores in the area. Someone living in a rural Southern/Midwestern town may not want to take an hour or so drive to their nearest big city to go to Sears or Macys

Dont get me wrong, I understand situations such as that. What Im talking about is when someone buys something like lets say a fork, something they can easily get from a store 5 blocks away. Im talking people who buy things only just because they think theyre so cool and hip. Im not trying to insinuate anything here and honeslty I probably could have picked a better contribution to the thread.

When you use the fork example, I completely agree with what you said. I can also envision (though I can't say I know people like this) someone boasting about getting something on-line and acting all hipster about it, only for someone else to say, "You could've just gone to Barnes and Noble and gotten the book there."

There are dolls I want that are out of print and never coming back, so getting them at a store is impossible. Also, music. I buy lots of indie music and the very few indie stores here are overpriced as hell. I can get mega-deals for the same music on Amazon.
