I don't really think that has as much to do with it as other things. Honestly, I think the barrier to entry for hockey is higher than the other American sports, and that's why it hasn't taken off with as many people. You can play pickup football with a ball, baseball with a ball, bat, and some mitts, and basketball with a ball and a hoop. These things are all easy to find and relatively cheap, and those games can be modified easily enough that you don't need full pads or field goal markers to play at home. Sure you won't have the parts for every aspect, but you'll have enough to play in the street and those games are cheap enough and easy enough to modify that they can adapt for most any setting Hockey requires ice skates, puck, goal, and a rink/frozen pond, and the last on especially isn't so easy to come by all the time. Even as skating rinks have popped up, it still required you to actually physically go somewhere to play, which makes it less accessible. You do have roller hockey, but playing roller hockey in a street is still a lot more work than setting up a hoop in a driveway and roller blades are a pretty hefty initial cost. Not necessarily. Street or Dek hockey is a great way to introduce kids to the game and really the equipment isn't that more expensive than what you would need to play baseball or football. Like I had said in my first post, there are many factors that contribute to hockey's stance in the States, but my opinion is just one of the factors that I feel contribute to hockey's lack of popularity relative to the other three major sports. Unlike hockey though, football and baseball are easily modifiable to play anywhere for relatively little cost, especially for pickup games. Most kids who get into football get in with touch or flag football, so the costs are a field, a ball (between 20 and 40 dollars), and some strips of fabric for flags if you're playing that. Then, when you get into peewee football, a lot of leagues provide the pads and helmets. For baseball, you need a field, everyone needs a glove ($60), and you need a ball and a few bats, combined running you between $60 and $150. Everything else for pickup games, like bases, can be makeshift. You may want people to have batting helmets and catching pads and mask, which will add more costs. For street hockey, everyone needs a stick (about $60) and gloves (around $40), and whatever padding that' agreed upon, which can add up. Then you need a ball (about the same cost as a baseball), and two goals (about $80). Then you need the goalies to have the equipment they need, because even if you remove slapshots they typically still have pads. And that's assuming you're not wearing having everyone wear skates and added padding, which are a pretty big costs. Hockey is just a relatively expensive sport to get into, so you're less likely to see it played unofficially compared to the other three unless you live in an area where hockey is bigger. That leads to less interest in those areas.

Conversely, that's why soccer is a global phenomenon, because it requires almost no financial investment, can be played anywhere, and can be played regardless of skill level.

Online shopping is the dumbest stuff ever. How is it convient when you can just drive to your local store and get the same thing without having to pay all of the extra fees as well as not having to wait a week before even getting it? I hope online shopping never goes away.

I hope online shopping never goes away. for me, it's a mixed bag. I would never buy a car, house or clothes online (though in the last case if it's something I've bought in a store before I'm ok with it). A lot of other things I find online for cheaper and no extra charge for shipping. Saves me a lot of time and gives me something to look forward to when the mail comes in. "All those extra fees" you pay in gas driving to the store and back, so I just go with price. Plus, once you have something in your online cart the store shouldn't be able to change the price on you (which Sears did to me TWICE while I was standing next to a display!)

I would hardly consider it dumb when personally myself over the past few years have saved around a few grand by buying a lot of my music CDs online

I hate the stupid fake and made up names some parents come up with for their children. It's assholish, but I'd laugh if you had to register the name online to have it be legal, and it kept rejecting the stupid made up name the parent wanted like the way they reject certain passwords or usernames, whilst giving you proper suggestions, until you're forced to concede and just go, "Ok, fine! His name is David!" or something.
I think the very easily offended deserve to be offended. They make it more about themselves and truly think the buck stops on whatever stance they have. I genuinely enjoy irritating them.
Parents who let their kids run or scream in public places like restaurants should be immediately kicked out.
In the face of actual evidence, a person arguing from a flawed or disproven viewpoint should have to concede the argument. And if online, he should be made to by mods.
This goes against all the milquetoast teachings these days, but sometimes a bully at school needs to get the shit kicked out of him. There are some lost causes out there who won't ever change their view because they're hardwired to be socially retarded. And the only way Little Timmy can get his power back is by letting that f***head know he won't be a victim.
That said, first and foremost, documented bullying should be an offense that demands expelling from said school entirely.

Fenway Park & Wrigley Field will be torn down in my lifetime.
Yankees/Red Sox is the most overblown rivalry in professional sports. I'd rather watch the Royals play the Pirates in a 7 game series than 1 Red Sox/Yankees game.
If I owned the Chicago Cubs, I wouldn't give an iota of a f*** about putting together a championship caliber team. The Cubs are going to be one of the most popular teams in baseball no matter what their record is.
Having separate football & baseball stadiums in the same city, for the most part, is a waste of space, money and resources.
Los Angeles doesn't need an NFL team.
I hate LeBron James because he went back to Cleveland.

Remakes are almost never an entirely bad thing, since if it's good, like the Thing remake with Kurt Russell, that's obviously a great thing, but if they are bad, they still might get more people to give the original a look, since it often ends up having them in bundles, or they get played on TV or cable more around the time of release.

Got this with Gone in 60 seconds, they're both actually fun in their own ways.

I think a remake, at its best, is usually not shot-for-shot or anything and gives you a good reason to see both, but that doesn't mean I'm not annoyed if there is no common ground to where one wonders why they even bought the license. Cool to see you like both, though.

Unpopular opinion: I don't think delivery chain pizza is necessarily bad. I've had top-quality pizza, which is absolutely delicious, but I'm just fine with shelling out $9 for a Domino's pizza I can split with another hungry person in my family. A filling meal for $4.50 is just way too good to pass up. It may be "fast food pizza" but it's edible, and it honestly doesn't taste bad at all. I agree with this. I've only eaten chain pizza and have never stepped in a pizzeria in my life. I never understand why everyone looks at places like Domino's/Pizza Hut and writes them off as toxic sludge that gives them violent diarrhea just by looking at it.

Unpopular opinion threads are mostly terrible. Only if you come in here and your feelings get hurt whenever someone says something you don't like or agree with, which, judging from your Twitter, is something you have seemingly made a career out of doing. In that case, I can see why you'd be bothered, but this is a thread to vent and say what's on your mind even if you're in the minority, not a hugbox, and I for one am f***ing glad it isn't. I definitely think we should have these every once in a while. It feels good to have a place to get some stuff off your chest and say shit that you're REALLY thinking even if no one agrees with you. If you think entering it will cause your blood pressure to rise...then don't do it. It's like the most avoidable problem ever.

Indeed as there as there many film remakes that have ended up surpassing the original E.G True Grit, The Fly and The thing etc however the real problem would that for every one of those there are dozen and dozens remakes that are awful and pointless.
