I guess they need the permission from Car makers to use them in the film. But then I think in low budget films they just use cars in the postion of people working in the films. So I think the makers could easily head down to Reg Barry Used Motor's and just buy say a used 1982 Datsun 280ZX (Prowl), 1960s VW Beetle and 1978 Porsche 935 Turbo. I bet the total cost all three vehicles above will come to less then $25,000 General Motors is heavily involved with the film, so Ironhide'll probably be a Dodge Ram. Bumblebee is already confirmed as a Corvette, so it makes sense. And even if they did use older vehicles, the manufacturers could still cry foul.

As long as it's G1, I'm all for this movie.... if it's any other version of the Transformers... this move doesn't exist to me. DITTO!

nothing will top the 1980's animated movie in my eyes, and getting over that fact I'm praying for a decent movie for today's kids (cause they will be the target audience, not 20-30 yr old G1 fans) with some good nostalgic bits for the parents/fans.
Failing that it'll be a midnight DVD screening of the cartoon movie with cries of "THIS IS HOW YOU f***ing DO IT!!"

November will see the re-release of the animated movie, with deleted scenes, interviews, and a bunch of other cool stuff. As long as they include the interview with Vince DiCola (composer) intact. They ask him a questions about "The Touch" (which he co-wrote with Stan Bush), and how he felt about it being in "Boogie Nights".

Even if Michael Bay does a first and make a good film.(It could be worse. *cough*Uwe Boll*cough)
This film is not gonna make everyone happy.
As long as the film has some good writers and then the film might have some hope.

This Transformers movie is a BAAAAAAD idea. As a hardcore fan, I have no interest in seeing this...EVER! As much as the old G-1 series got crapped on for being just a big toy commercial, the same can be said for this movie. Fact is, they're trying to sucker in the same kids who grew up watching the cartoon, but instead of buying some cheap toys, now they want you to make the purchase of a expensive vehicle. Sad.
I'd much rather have no movie than the one they'll probably give us. Or if a movie MUST be made, I'd prefer Beast Wars, something that had character development, a main character died in battle (without it being in a movie and replaced...and I cried), compelling stories and soooo much more.
You know, just because you grew up with G-1 doesn't make it better. It just makes it older and crap.
And, Gojira mentioned the writers. How can you expect good things from one of the writers of the Catwomn movie?

(It could be worse. *cough*Uwe Boll*cough) Thankfully, that sack of crap has left the directing chair. I saw Bloodrayne on the shelf at Wal-Mart yesterday and laughed. The movie never even hit the theater (at least, I don't think it did).

I thought one of the writers of the first X-men film was on onboard. But a look on imdb says he must of dropped out.
Sorry for showing some optimism. I forgot it was forbidden here.

I was just (badly) kidding. I saw the Catwoman movie, and Benjamin Bratt (or whatever his name is) didn't do so bad.

bumped up for a link to a script review. www.iesb.net/dreamworks2006/052106.php*WARNING* There are mild spoilers in terms of the story if people want to be a virgin to such things. But I must bring this to the attention of everyone: DISCUSS!

But I must bring this to the attention of everyone: DISCUSS! I'm guessing the Ipod, X-Box and Plasma TV thing are just Ads for the products tied in with the film. I'm guessing they will not be in the film itself. Think back to 'The Incredibles' Happy Meal ad.

TFW2005 just listed that Peter Cullen has officially auditioned for Optimus Prime.
This apparently was posted by Don Murphy (producer) on his message board.

Is anyone else somewhat frightened that, as cool as the poster is, it looks a little too much like the "Godzilla" (US) poster?

Semper Fi, Erik Majorwitz No word yet. But, if Cullen does get the part, hopefully that will convince the studio to either go after Welker, or convince Welker to audition.
