I think a wrestling show would work well on an "edgy" cable network like AMC or FX. Put it on at 10PM, then they can say shit every other word and maybe flash some butt once in a while. I think AMC has a deal to do some behind the scenes show for Resistance Pro but that's not really going to be wrestling. As for FX... rumors are that Fox has toyed with the idea of looking into wrestling but more for programming on Fox Sports 2 and FXX. I don't know how reliable those rumors are but they're out there. As for the Velocity rumors... While not ideal it would be far from the worse gig TNA could ask for... and if the TNA brand is as toxic as some seem to think it's actually not as far as a fall from grace as it could have been. And who knows.. maybe they actually won't bite the hand that feeds them this time.

I always thought tna should have gneo the mature route in order to stand out from the wwe's Pg era. Of course be mature and not crass like the attitude era. It'd be awesome to see any wrestling promotion become highly regarded the way the Walking Dead and Breaking Bad became for their genres.

If they don't want TNA they don't want TNA but... What would be the point of not being involved with wrestling? Is it so they can more consistently brand themselves as the cops reruns and star wars marathon channel? More questions: Does anyone care about this stuff besides people that run channels? Anyone know someone that used to watch certain programs on USA but stopped because they show WWE on monday nights? I can understand it if your channel has a very specific theme, such as ESPN or the Food Network. That does not nor will it ever apply to Spike. Hell if anything wrestling fits in pretty well with cops and star wars. They really should have gone all in on the "Impact Wrestling" rebranding and dropped the TNA moniker completely though. I guess wrestling is sometimes harder to sell ad spots for. WWE has fewer problems, having, well, higher ratings, but some sponsors might be hesitant, probably due to shit like the Parents Television Console during the height of their influence harassing sponsors. Isn't an issue you have to deal with on your Storage Wars or other inoffensive programming that no one's going to write a letter over. Secondly, TNN/Spike has been dealing with wrestling almost nonstop for years. They might have just decided all the combat over contracts is just not worth it to them right now.

Secondly, TNN/Spike has been dealing with wrestling almost nonstop for years. They might have just decided all the combat over contracts is just not worth it to them right now. Yeah unfortunately it's not a sometimes thing. It's an all the time thing. No one wants to buy local insertion spots for any wrestling. MMA sells like hot cakes but wrestling....nope. Some of it falls on the content (yeah putting 50 year old women through tables and promoting it like the 2nd coming, and fans salivating over it has a tendancy to reinforce the general public's image of wrestling), and some of it falls on the wrestling fans themselves. Lets just say if RAW was getting Smackdown type numbers they wouldn't be on on Monday Nights on USA Network. They bloat numbers for USA so they can say "we're number one...we're number one." I think supreme disappointment of the TV rights deal/vs number of viewers RAW brings in, really proved what wrestling is worth to the average TV network. All TNA is doing is matching WWE's C and D shows if that, and both of those shows got taken off the air for providing no value to the network. I can't stress this enough. Ratings are not the end all be all to a TV shows worth. It's Ad dollars generated vs. cost of the show. If one show gets 1.4 million viewers and the ad dollars and cost of show are similar/more then the show it is worthless. If the Ad dollars are 2 to 3 times greater or more than the cost but only brings in 700K viewers guess which show is more valuable. On top of what I just said you need to factor in the unwillingness of companies to buy Ad time for wrestling as is. Therefore the ones that do are getting a nice discounted rate (that is due to the fact that the wrestling fans eyeballs are worth less that viewers of other genres, don't flame me it's true....sorry). The TLDR version of all that is basically TNA ain't worth shit to TV Networks and that's why if they live it'll be on some podunk channel that no one even realizes they have. I never put an answer as to why I believe Spike decided to keep TNA on board through the end of the year. Like I said it ain't for being a "nice guy". If you are TNA you need to stay on the air. Spike needs to make a profit. Who says that TNA is even getting paid for content past the end of contrat. I didn't see a contract extension mentioned, all I see is "an agreement to stay on through the end of the year". Even if they are getting paid I can bet it isn't close to that 300K (rumored) an episode they were getting before. (Hence everyone abondoning ship now)

When WCW lost $62, Eric's Fusient was trying to keep WCW on the air by offering contracts to FOX and NBC but that didn't happen. After the WWF bought the assets of WCW, Vince was finding a way to keep WCW on the air but nobody touched it. I really doubt WWE would find an NBC network to keep TNA as a brand otherwise Raw or SmackDown becomes Impact.

Just because a company is no longer in business it doesn't mean its automatically for sale. I can see Dixie (unless Panda attempt to overrule her) just keep hold of the TNA library and trademarks because she can. Now I have the image of her doing what Howard Hughes did with The Conqueror.

The worst news about this is reading that Spike want out of wrestling all together. I think TNA are getting what they deserve but it still sucks to lose a nationally televised wrestling company. I think they just want to make room for more quality shows like non-stop Cops episodes, Bar Rescue, & the MMA promotion that's the #2 promotion because UFC bought out #2 & #3.

If spike cancelled their highest rated program, what are the future sponsors gonna think about wrestling? Not just tna but future promotions, is the stigma gonna be too much?

When you look at it that way, they might as well have stuck with TNA no matter how bad the product became. They could've had Spud as Dixie's sex slave and it would fit right in with all their other "quality programming".

You can hate Bellator. But don't talk shit about the true savior of SPIKE, COPS.

PFFT COPS. Bar Rescue is the best show on Spike. If spike cancelled their highest rated program, what are the future sponsors gonna think about wrestling? Not just tna but future promotions, is the stigma gonna be too much? Impact is/was not the highest rated show on Spike. the COPS reruns get better ratings than Impact, and I'm pretty sure their number one highest rated show at the moment IS Bar Rescue.

If they do go with Velocity, that channel has only slightly more potential homes than Sinclair reaches with Ring of Honor... and Ring of Honor shows in various markets are on channels such as ABC and FOX - which gives ROH a shot at becoming the #2 US promotion with TNA still in existence.

I've never understood why Fox has been so reluctant over the years to get into wrestling. Whether it's WWE or forming their own promotion and so forth. It felt like a marriage made in heaven but they never made the jump. I mean they even had Battle Dome for crying out loud. They never had barriers for raunchier contents if you look at the ensemble of their Network companies and a even their News Network is a little on the "shock TV" style.

Ever since I heard about the Velocity business, for some reason I decided to find this channel on my TV and watch a few random programs. I'm pretty sure now I know why I've never heard of this channel before.
