From WNS c/o PWInsider
Batista may not be returning to WWE as a full time performer, at least that is what some backstage were talking about this past weekend.
Batista's recent role in the hugely successful Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is being seen as a stepping stone on to other big Hollywood films.
If Batista was to return to WWE on a full time basis there is certainly a higher risk of injury which would jeopardize any kind of Hollywood career.

This is pretty much the only thing Batista brings to the table. Meme fodder. No big loss.

Still hoping for Batista vs Triple H and Triple H retires Batista.

They had him win the Royal Rumble, everyone! Their first goal was to push him to the moon as another Rock. Because who needs new stars when you can rely on spending millions on guys who aren't even available most of the time, yet nothing else matters when they're around. It's like a battered girlfriend who patiently awaits her man to come and go ad he pleases while only benefitting himself.

I wonder if he'll pull/parallel Rock. He wrestled his last match against Goldberg in 2003 full time then show up part time which he is no longer under contract later then returned.
Problem is Batista has a two year deal already!

They had him win the Royal Rumble, everyone! In hindsight, Bryan still main-evented and won at WrestleMania, we got Douchetista back, and that Rumble fan revolt is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't trade what happened for the world, it just shows what a serious lack of foresight this company has.

Because then WWE could've put Bryan in the main event from the beginning instead of making him wrestle two matches to cover their asses. Then guys like Sheamus, Miz, Big Show, Dolph, Del Rio, etc. could've had actual matches instead of being relegated to the Andre Battle Royal, freeing up spots to put other guys in. It still bugs me that despite doing a "get everyone on the card" thing, people were still left out. Had, had Bryan just wrestled one match and not two, and not taken that ridiculous table bump, maybe he'd be healthy right now.

Batista said he wanted to come back because he missed it and loved it. He had wanted to come back at the right time, meaning after he had actually accomplished something. He has, but it didn't become fully clear until this month. Batista's Hollywood career is in very good shape because Disney will definitely continue to use him to play Drax, probably for years to come. He already had landed some decent roles in The Man with the Iron Fists and Riddick. He would be fine simply making Marvel Studios films, but he will likely get other opportunities considering how popular Guardians has become.
I respect that Dave actively wants to continue his WWE career. He has said he wants to work another big match with Triple H and he'd really like to work with Titus O'Neil who is his friend. He would like to see them push him, though Slater Gator doesn't indicate that they are working on it.

A week after Batista left, Hunter and Vince had a meeting... Vince: "We could really use that star power. What if he's gone for good?" Hunter: "Don't worry Pop, Blade Trinity had me as a vampire and didn't do well. What does Dave's movie got? A tree and a raccoon. Yeah... That'll put butts in the seats. He'll be back." A week after Guardians Of The Galaxy won the box office... Hunter: "Blade Trinity had ME as a VAMPIRE and it didn't do well. His movie had a TREE and a RACCOON! HOW DID THAT PUT BUTTS IN THE SEATS?!" Bray Wyatt and Cesaro walk past him... Bray: "It was the best comic book movie I've seen in a long time. Batista stole that one." Cesaro: "Dave is going to have a great career ahead of him." Triple H removes his suit jacket, puts on his leather jacket, and heads to the creative meeting...

Bryan was not supposed to be in that spot and would not have been if Punk hadn't walked and Batista's hero act wasn't shit on. Batista never took a thing away from Bryan because Bryan didn't have it to start with and the fact that numerous reports backed by the booking and confirmed by everyone involved including Bryan are still ignored for this false idea of it being Bryan's all along is crazy. Oh, while I have more to listen to on the subject, Batista not returning was never reported as a fact that I have heard. Just talking about how successful GotG has been and how that could cause him to change his plans.

He was great in Guardians, much better than I expected, but I still don't know that I'd see him being say a leading man or anything. Ensemble pieces or something, sure.

Pretty much. If Batista hadn't come back, it'd have been Orton / Punk and Bryan / Triple H. Assuming Punk didn't still walk out seeing as in that case he still would've been in a pointless nothing match he probably would have lost given he was leaving a few months later anyway and that would not have been the main event with his pay still in doubt, in which case they would've had to come up with some way to explain him not getting his title shot without him being there.

Let's be fair, with all the issues Bryan has had since, he wasn't even healthy going IN to Mania. It's probably a huge blessing in disguise for his quality of life long-term that he did find those issues and is finally getting something done about them.

In interviews Batista said Guardians was big for him because he really wanted that one big role because he knew he could do it, and it was just a matter if when, not if, he would be returning to WWE. Of course, maybe the movies success could change the circumstances, but I think Batista will be back in a fairly regular role for a little while longer.
