Most of all, what is it with girls WHO AREN'T THIN and wearing such tops? As a guy, I know that on some women, it looks good and I won't deny that. Being that I'm taking courses right now, I see girls who are in the 18-21 range wearing crop tops. Whether they are those crop tees that look like those loosely-fit tops that show a little bit of a girl's stomach or those tops that can easily pass as a sports bra with sleeves. Then you also have girls who have a gut who would even wear stuff like that, which I will admit scratches my head a bit. I can understand being at a beach or pool and seeing chubby girls wearing bikinis, that is one thing, but even also wearing crop tops in public? I am not so sure about that.
I don't mind chubby girls at all. I even like some out there, but it cracks me up to see these girls who aren't thin or fit to wear such attire.

Maybe they just like how it makes them feel?

Tell me about it. I was out a few weeks ago and saw a girl wearing one who had like, the most toned stomach ever, walked away thinking "Daaaaaaayum", then saw a mastodon of a woman weeble-wobbling her way down the street in one and practically felt my soul leaving my body.

I don't think it's a big deal what people wear as long as they're comfortable and the bits that need to be covered in public are covered.

I don't get it, but that's because I feel extremely uncomfortable if only half my torso is covered if I were to lay on a couch, so I can't imagine walking around like that all day. I guess Winnie the Pooh did it before it was cool.

I'm not saying it's a big deal and I'm not really complaining. I'm just wondering what the deal is. What I find funny is how some girls would dress a certain way and is bound to get attention yet doesn't like the attention. I remember talking with a female friend about this and she was telling me that usually women do that to try to get attention. Like if a girl is a wearing a low-cut top that shows cleavage, she knows that a guy might glance or look a bit.

Threads like these remind me why I usually steer clear of internet forums.

Someone dressing how they feel comfortable does not give everyone the right to ogle and leer at them. Unless they vocalise that they're dressing in a particular way purely for the purpose of getting attention, don't assume that they are. This should be really basic stuff for people to understand.

Hey man, they're my eyes, don't tell me what to do with them. It's rude to expect me to NOT look where I please. If I don't have to do anything other that move my freaking eye muscles to see cleavage or whatever, then you better find a more appropriate way to dress or just accept the looks.

Right now you're actually saying that women have to cover up or accept that you're going to ogle their breasts because you have no self control or decency. Lovely.

I'm probably stepping on a hornet's nest here, but I'll give it the old college try.
Some women who wear provocative(which is naturally a relative term) clothing do so in order to illicit a reaction, either out of a desire to meet people or for an ego boost. Of course sometimes people want attention. That is not the only reason why anyone would wear eye-catching clothing, though, a desire for validation.
Very often, people basically want to look good to show off an outfit they like to friends, or maybe most often, in order to just feel like they look good and feel better. It's kind of like combing your hair, even if you're not going anywhere. You just feel more put together and self-assured.
This is damn clumsy, and I am sure I'm missing things or phrasing some stuff poorly, but not every hotty is haughty if they don't want to get naughty. They might just not be in the market for that, any more than a guy wearing a nice shirt would be trying to cruise for women when he might just be going out for some drinks with friends.
