If so why?
If not why not?
The closest I've ever done is fishing which i do enjoy if you consider that to be in the same league.
I don't have any problems with that but don't think I could pull the trigger and shoot a deer or anything like that ya know for fun.
Am I missing out?
Did any of ya do it and then feel like crap afterwards for killing an animal even though it wasn't attacking you?

I don't, but my father in law does; strictly for meat though and not for trophy hunting. My wife and I usually get at least 5-10 pounds of venison a year I'm just not an outdoorsy person, and have no real interest in doing it myself.

I'm a decent shot, but I doubt that I would want to shoot an animal unless I needed food to survive in the wild or it was attacking or something.

I hunt. For the meat. That's about all I really like to talk about it on the internet, so as not to get bombarded.

I'd like to go on safari, colonial-era style. I'd wear the full outfit, pith helmet etc....and shoot rhinos and lions, like that dude in Jumanji

I've always wanted to. I quite enjoy the idea of attaining my own meat.
I do fish. Just never hunted.

Nearly every one down here is (in my high school we actually got the first day off of the open of gun season during deer hunting season cuz nobody'd really be there anyway.) I never personally was, as my dad didn't really have anything to do with me like most of the people that love it/grow up with it do; but I'm perfectly fine with it.
I do love that my stepdad etc do, and that means deer meat in the fall, and deer meat is delicious.
Coon hunting was alright, as was squirrel hunting. All of its ok, but it's nothing that I've really gotten into.

No because I don't believe it's ok for people to kill an animal in the name of sport.

A great number of people around here do, but I don't. I planned on doing it as a kid and took the hunters education course and everything, but before I ever went, I changed my mind completely on the practice. No way would my conscience let me kill another living animal just because.
Love fishing though. One of the most relaxing activities there is.

I like fishing and was briefly into catch & release sport fishing, but that lost its appeal to me pretty quickly. I have not hunted much (only two hunts, one for wild hogs & once when I was younger when I'm pretty sure the women just wanted us out of the house for a day). I'm not cool with killing animals solely for fun. I'm fine with killing animals as a method of population/pest control (the wild hog hunt) and for food (wild hog is tasty too).
I have a friend in Texas that has gone on some of the helicopter hunts that are done to eliminate feral/wild hogs. They are devastating to farmland.

Been once but getting up before the asscrack of dawn to slather myself in deer piss (real or fake) and then sit for hours on end not making a sound just isn't for me. Love just about everything else about it but would much rather go fishing.

I am a very serious fisherman.
I hunt, but I don't own any hunting clothes and I use my great grandpa's guns. It's fun when the in laws come over to deer hunt and they all have a couple thousand worth of gear and fancy semi auto shotguns and I walk outside wearing a flannel shirt and drop a deer with a 100 year old 12 gauge.

What's the difference though with hunting and fishing as far as killing wise? Catch and release I guess? Not saying either view is wrong, just curious.

Honestly, in my opinion, it's that fish aren't cute and cudly.

never been, but my dad loved doing it.
Fresh deer or rabbit or pheasant meat is DELICIOUS!!
And - unless you're very careful about where you buy your meat from, odds are an animal killed by hunting in the wilderness led a better quality life than most animals bred just for food and probably slaughtered just as humanely if the hunter is competent.

Conservation is important too. Like with culling say the deer population, it's either hunt some or more starve.

I haven't kept a fish I caught in many years.

I catch shit lots of the time because I live on a lake and way out in the woods, but do not hunt or fish. I am a great shot, but can not bring myself to harm an animal.
