Goldust has been a character that I was drawn to ever since I was a kid, and has always been a favorite of mine. I've been behind every comeback he's had and hoped each time he would reach the heights he could've ideally in the 90's with the character. Unfortunately with each return his character's been stripped down and simplified. With him going from a Ziggy Stardust like nutjob to a kind of weird guy to now more or less a veteran that wears off facepaint. I think, if given the chance and the right storyline & proper promo time, Dust could have one last great run. I'd love for him to hold the WWE title, if only as a transitional reign and as a thank you for all he's done. But I realize that isn't terribly realistic. Instead I'd be fine if he gets that one last great run as a means to an end for Cody. Afterall, we keep discussing who will be the one to beat Brock and what that person needs to represent. It would make for a great story if Brock and Heyman, drunk with power, start picking on and bullying whoever they want. One of those people happen to be, while he's backstage, Booker T. This leads to Goldust standing up for his old friend and getting himself seemingly in over his head against Lesnar going into a PPV. Have Goldust play mind games, and (no pun intended) use smoke and mirrors to try to put himself on an equal playing field as Lesnar. In the end, Lesnar crushes another victim underneath his boot heel. This leads to either immediately after or the next night Cody coming out on a hell bent revenge kick. Furious over the bloody mess Lesnar left his older brother in. Could even have Dusty get involved, with him trying to talk Cody out of it, trying to make him see reason and that they should let it go, fearing his youngest will end up like his other son. Naturally leading to him trying to hold off a confrontation between Lesnar and Cody, only for Lesnar to destroy Dusty too in front of Cody's eyes. This too perfect and I would watch every second of it

I agree with you too, as a gay kid I was completely enthralled by Goldust. I still say that if you have something really really tragic happen to him (let's say Cody gets destroyed by Lesnar) it forces Goldust to do a "I can't take this anymore" type of promo and disappear. Six months later we get vignettes in his old style. Sitting in a movie theater, eating popcorn, quoting movies. This time darker movies, make him delve headlong into mind games again and bring back his esoteric nature. Everyone knows he's not gay now, but this time he can use that to his advantage and become darker. Keep the look, bring back the wig, and the original robe (maybe revamped a bit) and I say Goldust could easily be in the main event picture. I've actually envisioned this "darker sinister Goldust" in my head for years. not campy Black Reign stuff. legitimately sinister. his gimmick is perfect for it. Also sets up Cody to make a valiant return with huge fan support.

Regular Cody is boring as hell. If anything Goldust gave Cody a new lease on WWE life. Dashing and Undashing were not boring, The Mask on acid is boring and irritating.

Sadly we'll never see anything like this

Regular Cody is boring as hell. If anything Goldust gave Cody a new lease on WWE life. Yes Cody has a generic look, but I figured Cody had the charisma and chops to pull off a new persona without looking like a defective "special" clone of his brother. WWE should just allow the "generic guys in trunks" to actually have personalities.

I know it's so stupid to hope for, but I really want this to culminate in a just effin' amazing brother vs. brother match on a huge stage where both Rhodes boys can show off, then have Goldust serve as Cody's manager as he finally chases the World Heavyweight Championship.

Ambrose said it best when he said "Goldust is moving around like he's 18" on commentary. Goldust is doing the best ringwork of his career.

Goldust is one of my five favourite characters in all of wrestling history, and I'm glad Dustin is still around and performing at an exceptionally high level.
I genuinely want him to get one last solid singles run, preferably with a title.

Goldust is an amazing wrestling character and gimmick. Looking back at his first run in the WWE, he was brilliant at pulling off the character. Here we had a gimmick that was so deep and controversal.
But today, that's all gone. As someone else said he is the vetaran who wears facepaint. But that's fine. His gimmick isn't as cool as it originally was but he is still good enough to have a run in the tag team division.

I don't hear to many people on here talk about Goldust's comeback ... Which he came back as a totally new person who was faster , slimer , and a overall EXCELLENT performer , Prior to that he was a jobber and considered a joke , but now he's teaming with Stardust , Won the Tag Titles , ... You get the picture .. Anyways what are your thoughts on Goldust Genuine question - were you even here when he came back? This place loved him. I loved him too. He had a MOTYC with Orton and people were clamoring for Goldust coming back full-time, then they brought him back and they wanted the titles put on him and they did. The man is having one of the best working runs of his career.

There's only two wrestlers that I can think of that's done better work than Goldust at this point in their career, and thats Shawn Michaels and HHH. He knows that this is most likely his last run, and he's making sure that he's gonna go out on a high note.

I often wonder if wearing the full bodysuit has kept up a lot of people's positive opinion of him. He's super slim and in great shape, has great mobility, but I have to wonder if he'd be dead in the water if we could see his mid-to-late-40's bare body, as in shape as he is. (I feel like Jushin Liger also benefits from this.) But that doesn't take away from the fact that Goldust has been consistently great. You could apply that to the Undertaker, too.

He's always great to have around. I miss his original version of the character and think he could bring that back as a heel and have another run with the IC title before hanging up the boots. I think after all the work he has put in and the amazing comeback, he really deserves the belt as a thank you.

Goldust is in my opinion, hands down, THE most underrated wrestler of all time. His gimmick was great and I always thought he was one of the greatest workers of all time. That first feud with Razor Ramon where they fought backstage was so awesome, I remember as a kid even after I started realizing it was a "show" I still thought that was for real. I was always excited when they would bring him back but then they would always ruin it by jobbing him to everyone and just making him be funny, its almost like they turned him into the new Brooklyn Brawler. I always wished they stuck with the more serious androgynous gimmick. Not to get too "political" but my best friend since I was 15 is gay and Goldust was the reason he loved wrestling. Even though they portrayed him as "bizarre", he made my friend feel more normal and comfortable with himself by seeing a popular gay character on TV

There was a huge amount of praise for him when he first came back. I honestly think he's better than he's ever been. It's crazy to think he's in his mid 40's.
