But clean finishes "bury" people.
It's hard enough to make anyone but the top guys matter. If every single match has to result in a clean loss for someone, it's all the more difficult, because it's only those top guys who can possibly win most of the time.
Of course, just about every promotion in the history of wrestling until the attitude era got around this problem with a combination of jobber squashes and non-clean finishes on TV.

Anything is better than the horrible "superstar's music hits and they district their rival who is rolled up for a win by their in-ring opponent" finish that WWE does like 2-3 times a week, sometimes even in the same show.
