The commentary in WWE right now is pretty terrible, and I know that's not a knock on Michael Cole's skills but rather whoever it calling the shots in their ear piece.
Why are certain phrases banned, or simply not used anymore? For example, I forget the last time I heard the term "pinned". It's always "knocked off" or "put away" Don't they realize how stupid this sounds? Why are the championships never called title belts? ("Because God damn it, a belt holds up your pants!" - VKM) A title shot is called a "championship opportunity", and if you forget that beating a champion in a non-title match, don't worry because Cole will remind us every single time, and it sounds more forced week after week.
I know for a long time "wrestler/wrestling" was a taboo word, but that seems to have lightened up a bit. Are there any other terms they don't like us hearing?

Apparently the word "head" is banned, you have to say skull instead.

I seem to recall a story quite a while back saying that commentators should avoid saying two feuding wrestl......superstars "hate" each other.

"Sneeze."
You don't even have to do it. Saying it in Vince's presence is punishable by death.

Pronouns seem to be very rare in the commentary. Another thing Vince despises for whatever twisted reason.

Hospitals are Local Medical Facilities
I understand the reasoning behind that one and support it 100%

The word "belt" used to be banned, but now it seems okay again as long as they specify "championship belt".

Isn't 'wrestling' a bad word? They prefer to use 'compete' or 'battle'.

Isn't 'wrestling' a bad word? They prefer to use 'compete' or 'battle'. Or 'square off'. They rarely say blood/bleeding (unless it was a First Blood match). It is/was usually 'busted (wide) open'.

Apparently the word "head" is banned, you have to say skull instead. Just like "back" must be referred to as "spine" when someone is hit there with a chair.

Him and her are banned. They must always use a competitors name.
