Well with Derrick Johnson's injury the Chiefs season almost feels over I really thought this was going to be their year and I hope it still is but it seems so unlikely that they recover from this. It really feels like a lost year.
I do not believe for a second that the NFL did not see the Ray Rice footage before today. I think they just never thought that people would get so irate about it that they had to change their domestic violence policy and felt that the video would not get out or that by the time it did the story would be cold. Though this does make me wonder if video footage of What ADR did would change peoples minds on him. The sports culture on violence is changing, just in the last few months It was not that long ago that Stephan A Smith felt comfortable saying women need to be responsible to not provoke violence against them, he got a three day suspension sure but today I think a ESPN reporter would get fired for saying something like that.

I could see the NFL's two game suspension as a sort of "placeholder" susprnsion, knowing that the video would surface before he was eligible to play again. The last thing the league would want is another year long ban on one of its best young players marring their opening weekend.
