100% agree about not having "IT" as the top face. It just bombed, yes he was over for a short period but he was such a natural heel. As a face he was so dull and forced. I wonder if Vince had any other ideas for a Hogan replacement, he cant have just had the one option to do this angle. Tell that to 1997 Lex Luger. He was OVER as the top babyface in WCW.

To be fair, WCW had the right idea about babyface Lex Luger during that time. Instead of putting on a cheesy USA shirt and pretending to be something he is not, he is just Lex Luger being Lex Luger trying to be the very best wrestler in the world, fighting insurmountable odds in the form of a glorified street gang outnumbering him by at least 10 people. Even then, he was a babyface only by circumstance, but it was much easier buying into him defending a wrestling company as opposed to be a cheesy 80s superhero years after it became passe.
