Was watching this just now. Schiavone asks him who's going to win the battle royale, and immediately Heenan shouts the Macho Man, followed by awkward silence and then he changes his picks a couple of times.
Was Heenan going into business for himself to make himself look smart? It made no sense as Savage was a face, and not the popular pick at the time, when he could've said Flair, Giant or even Luger.
Watch it...it's very strange, and makes the whole who's side is he on look like just another page out of Heenan trying to make himself look smart again.

Heenan's often said Schiavone never told him the outcome of matches and deliberately withheld information from him. Maybe Heenan was trying go with someone he thought was unlikely to win too.

Right, but the way he shouts it... he knows. Plus you NEVER see Heenan choose a face; particularly one injured in storyline.

Weren't Hogan and Savage having issues around that time? If so, I can totally get why Heenan picked him -- because he hates Hogan; and what'd stick worse in Hogan's craw more than an enemy beating him is his best pal beating him.

So basically this is just a thread to badmouth Bobby Heenan?
Okay, then.

Bobby Heenan couldn't beat the Red Rooster on his best day.

Wait, you're claiming Heenan wanted to look smart by saying "who's side is he on?" since it was the finish?

You can argue that. The general heel.would pick Giant, Flair or.maybe Luger...it is not to bash Bobby. More to.ask if.he slipped and someone shouted into his earpiece to correct it.

I've been watching wrestling since 89, not once have I ever seen a heel commentator pick someone to win a battle royale and then change their mind 20 times during the match. I must seek this out.

On a somewhat unrelated note, to me it never made sense that the PPV was called World War 3 every year. The '96 one should've been World War 4, and so on and so forth.

What will be the next PPV that we have a thread about Bobby Heenans commentary?

What will be the next PPV that we have a thread about Bobby Heenans commentary? I predict Survivor Series 1993. Was that really a picture of Helen Hart on the back of Stu Harts jacket or is Heenan a filthy liar who smells whom hates all the bands you like?

What will be the next PPV that we have a thread about Bobby Heenans commentary? Royal Rumble 92 of course. I don't think anyone's ever discussed his commentary for that one.

I always thought his commentary for Royal Rumble 92 was completely ruined when Jake "The Snake" Roberts comes out and Heenan goes "Yeah, but whose side is he on?"

Remember at the last Clash of the Champions when Paul from TBS' "Dinner and a Movie" comes out to promote their new season and Heenan goes "Yeah, but whose side is he on?" Totally ruined that season of "Dinner and a Movie." What a botch, amirite?!

Hey, that reminds of me Bash of the Beach '96 when Hogan comes out and Heenan says "Whose side is he on?" Remember when he did that? Wait, don't answer here... going to start a thread.
