I'm wondering if were gonna get an official thread for that vote monitored by some of the UK mods. Either way as an American with no dog in this I got nothing. Other than Piper is awesome of course. Also aren't The Highlanders blacklisted in WWE after one of them went to TNA during the Wrestlemania XXV week? There will be an official thread covering it, though how that will be handled is still being discussed.

If the Yes vote goes through then it means Daniel Bryan is returning next month!
Yes! Yes! Yes!
And if he doesn't then he's a B+ player!
YES! YES! YES!

It wouldn't matter, it would take Vince a decade to work the politics into a gimmick.

Haha classic.
For one of the most patriotic nations on Earth USAers live to tell you they're something else.
"I'm Irish y'all, but don't let those Mexicans over the border..."
Also, did any Unionists ever get bothered by "From Belfast Ireland" during Finlay's intro?

It would be like billing someone from Texas, Mexico now.

Kinda sorta. I mean they are both part of the Commonwealth but formally 1982 Canada has had the ability to amend their constitution without a Royal assent. As a political science junky the commonwealth countries are intriguing because they are consider to be independent nation states even though none of them have their own head of state. To be technical Canada has its own Head of Government, The Rt.Hon. Stephen Harper, but both its Head of Government and Head of State are technically HRM Elizabeth II. I figured it was like that. No expect, but my understanding was that they are formally independent-but still acknowledge the royal family as their heads of state. Complicated, to say the least. Nonetheless, the UK will still have Australia and Canada technically-so let Scotland go!!! If Scotland vote yes, they will have the same status as Australia and Canada. UK has no bearing on what happens in Australia or Canada, we certainly don't "have" them. They're their own countries, we just share the queen. Scotland will become a Commonwealth country just like Australia and Canada if they vote yes.

What is it with Americans just being like "I'm American"? They're always like "I'm Irish, Scottish, Catholic, 1/25th Cherokee, half Italian and my little finger's from Botswana." It's maddening.
Like the dude above said, for somewhere so patriotic, you're all in serious denial about what you are.

Like the dude above said, for somewhere so patriotic, you're all in serious denial about what you are. I think it's because aside from the Native Americans, there is no true American heritage. So they have to use their ancestor's heritage. Also, American culture had a history of shunning those of immigrant descent, such as the Irish or the Chinese railroad workers. Or if you're like 1/16th black, you're still just classed as black, whereas most other people would class that person as white or mixed race. Unless you came from a white British (you could even argue as specific as a white English) background, you'd historically be classed as another nationality. It's a very descent-obsessed culture. That and American heritage is far more traceable than say that of a Brit as the country has a much shorter history.

Like the dude above said, for somewhere so patriotic, you're all in serious denial about what you are. It's a young country, and given the complaints people have about white washing and assimilating, it's not really a bad thing for people to show interest in their ancestors, even if it is usually a casual one. That said, and I don't mean your post, the political ramifications of this thread stop, or the thread stops. Some of you aren't skirting the line, you're belly flopping over it and scraping your knees.

Like the dude above said, for somewhere so patriotic, you're all in serious denial about what you are. But we're not. You really need to be in America and live here for a while to understand that for a lot of Americans, our ancestral cultural ties are very strong. Many of us have heritage from immigrants who came here in the last 100 years and while some assimilated, others did not. Most acculturated and maintained many cultural traditions which are definitely not "American." Those differences contribute to cultural disparity between different groups here, which is often regionalized by the dominant cultures. I guess you could say we are a bit like Spain. Andalusians, Galicians and Basques are all part of the same country despite their differences. Ours aren't usually as pronounced, but we do acknowledge that there's a lot that we as individuals don't have in common--and we like to celebrate why that is.

He can be like Bret Hart going to Europe! Cheers! Underwear flung at him! Bryan claiming it was on par with Beatlemania a decade later!

Not really, everyone from here is from the island of Ireland, whether it "Northern" or "Republic of", those are political terms but geographically he is from Ireland. Would be more like someone being announced as from "Texas, America", rather than "Texas, USA". As a southern Irishman I always liked it!

WWE will treat Scottish fans same as they do Irish fans. A blank look when someone explains the differences and then straight into:
"Hey UK fans, get ready as the Wrestlemania revenge tour heads your way..."
UK is an improvement. A lot, if not most people tend to call the whole lot "England"
