Hulk Hogan calls it quits after the crowd turns on him at Royal Rumble '92.
Randy Savage is injured, sidelining his feud with Ric Flair.
Ric Flair is the WWF Champion.
With just 2 months before WrestleMania 8, book the main event.

Probably one of these: Piper v. Flair Sid v. Flair Bret v. Flair Undertaker v. Sid

I'm banking on another double main event.
Ric Flair vs. Bret Hart for the WWF title. - As I-C Champ, Piper is considered a shoe-in to be named the #1 contender. Then Bret returns from his "fever" and challenges Roddy to a match, but he doesn't want the I-C title. He wants to be the #1 contender for the WWF title. In the opening match of WM8, Bret beats Piper to win the I-C title, then goes on to lose to Flair in the main event after Piper interferes. Piper goes back to being the marvelous heel he should have been all along, feuds with Bret through Summerslam where Bret beats him to win the I-C belt. Then, Bret beats Flair at Survivor Series.
Jake Roberts vs. Sid. - Jake Roberts "buries" the Undertaker after Royal Rumble and Sid steps in to make sure that "justice will be served". Jake plays mind games with Sid, but it backfires on him. At WrestleMania, Sid gets the powerbomb... then Undertaker pulls Jake under the ring. Faceoff with Sid.

Ric Flair v Ultimate Warrior -
Ric Flair cuts a promo saying how Hogan is scared of facing him so he walked out, Randy Savage faked an injury to get out of wrestling him. So he challenges Jack Tunney to find somebody...anybody to face him at Wrestlemania. Instead of a surprise run in at the end of the show, Jack Tunney announces that Warrior will return to fight for the WWF Championship at Wrestlemania 8.
Also Id have Sid Justice now facing The Undertaker.

Virgil finally gets his long overdue chance at his moment in the sun by facing Flair.
Flair beats him via submission in under a minute

Piper is the very easy choice to bump up to the main spot. He also feud a bit with Flair during that time too. Bret Hart vs Sid would be pretty appealing too. It would be easy to play a big underdog role with Hart.

for some reason The Berzerker is hotshotted into the main event and defeats Ric Flair for the title That could work... but he would have to win accidentally, because his schtik was to throw guys over the top rope and get counted out. This could be the makings of a great Summerslam main event though. SummerSlam '92: The Berzerker vs. Kamala. - The Berzerker spends the whole match trying to throw Kamala over the top while Kamala tries to pin Berzerker by laying on him when he's face down. Kim Chee is not there to tell Kamala to roll him over since Berzerker impaled him on his sword to build the rivalry a month before. The match goes an hour while the referee pleads with them to go for the pinfall.

1992 Bret Hart vs Sid Justice would be a lot cooler than 1996 Bret Hart vs. Sycho Sid.

Flair/Piper would have been old by then, and its a pretty thin looking roster...... Other than Sid and Hart I don't think any babyface would be a big enough draw. Could Perfect have got over quickly enough with a face turn (providing he was fit to wrestle)? How about shipping someone in from WCW? Vader comes in turning Flair face? Or Steamboat/Flair in WWF?

for some reason The Repo Man is hotshotted into the main event and defeats Ric Flair for the title But who would face Tenryu and Kitao?!?!??! Wrong year. That match was a year earlier. Honestly, if we had no Hogan and no Savage, Piper or Hart would be the best choices. Also have Taker take out Roberts before Mania and you could have Taker/Sid 5 years earlier.

In that case - who would team with the Nasty Boys and the Mountie in a meaningless 8 man tag?!

Turn Flair face. He wasn't that hated the time, and the Royal Rumble win was great, and clean, kayfabe achievement.
Then you have a few options. He could defend against heel Sid, or heel Bret Hart, or even heel Shawn Michaels. Any may be a stretch, but hell, you just lost Hogan and Savage, you're going to get hammered on the buyrates no matter what, might as well elevate somebody.

I think you would have to go for a Face Sid vs heel Flair, people forget how over Sid was at that point, he was getting bigger pops then Hogsn at the Rumble.
