Because apparently someone at Urban Outfitters thought it'd be a fashionable idea to feature a vintage Kent State sweatshirt with RED SPLATTER ALL OVER IT.

What the freakin' hell is it with clothing/fashion companies and designers lately? First that Holocaust pajamas incident from a few weeks ago, and now this? Is sheer idiocy a new factor in their jobs?

And if the design doesn't offend you, I would imagine the $129 price tag should.

Nearly having plausible deniability, but then CLEARLY putting the offending image in the front? Check.

The kicker is that most of their shirts are made in Malaysia or something so its not even like that $129 would go towards giving someone a fair wage.

Anything over 35 is a no for me. I buy shoes for 15 bucks. Jeans for 20. I literally couldn't care less what brand it is. Aslong as it does it's job and is cheap it's all good for me. May 4, 1970, was a watershed moment for the country and especially the Kent State family. We lost four students that day while nine others were wounded and countless others were changed forever.

We take great offense to a company using our pain for their publicity and profit. This item is beyond poor taste and trivializes a loss of life that still hurts the Kent State community today.

It was never our intention to allude to the tragic events that took place at Kent State in 1970 and we are extremely saddened that this item was perceived as such.

Really? Everyone who sees it IMMEDIATELY thinks of the tragedy, but it never crossed your mind? You just randomly chose Kent State for your bloody college shirt?

I had never heard of the Kent State shootings, so if their goal was to raise awareness over the incident, then they succeeded. We must learn from history, and just because this was a terrible event does not mean it should be forgotten.

Having said that, yeah....this is in pretty bad taste and not the best way to go about it.
