30 for 30s were kinda losing their steam already. Now, you put them on a smaller platform and it's going to have a negative effect. I get that they want to push ESPN+, but y'all messed that up by being about 4-7 years behind. 30 for 30s will fail to elevate the + platform, and the + platform will undoubtedly minimize the impact of the 30 for 30s.

they went to the final game of tourney in 2002 right? Was that team new recruits from the succeeding coach or residual Knight players? Mike Davis took over the team for the 2001-02 season, and took them to the championship game, where they lost to Maryland. If my memory serves well, most of the players stayed. It wasn't until Kelvin Sampson where people decided to bail on the program after he was terminated. That team was recruited by Knight. It's tough to say how they would have done with Knight, but it was his best recruiting class since the Bailey/Cheaney era. There was a rally because of the uproar after Knight's dismissal, and Davis did poorly after that season. He was a good defensive coach, but his offensive playbook was terrible. As far as the players bailing after Sampson, it wasn't the players themselves, but IU going into self preservation mode. They got rid of his recruits to hopefully limit the NCAA infractions and it worked. But it also meant a longer rebuild.

Yeah I feel like they should premiere them on ESPN proper, but don't rerun it often at all. Like make it a special occasion when you do- like if Miami makes it to the National Championship game, you help build to it by showing both parts of the U in prime time leading up to it. If Charlotte Flair main events Wrestlemania, show the Ric Flair doc the Thursday before. Or maybe show the Straight Outta LA 30 for 30 every year the Wednesday before the Raiders @ Chargers game.
That way you can build the + brand while at the same time retaining the mystique of 30 For 30 without making it completely unavailable to the TV audience. And when they are shown, they can be an effective advertisement for +.

I won't discredit Crean like that. Crean was a great recruiter and IU did make the tournament quite a few times under him. He had nothing when he inherited the team and brought them back to relevancy. Did he leave something to be desired? Oh yeah, not being able to get further with the talent he brought was frustrating and his play calling was very questionable at time. I like what I have seen from Miller, but it will take a few years to see his recruiting play out and really be able to judge him.

They were just as irrelevant when he was there as they were before he got there. And he surea s heel wasnt a great recruiter. In fact, he was a scummy one. This was a guy who continually over recruited and then ran off the players he didn't like. It was called "Housecreaning" for a reason. Indiana was never relevant during his time. And that doesn't even get inot his below average coaching. This was a guy who stood so far out on the court, which is illegal by the way, that players actually ran into him and he was never once called. The rules were never enforced. The guy was a complete joke at Indiana. Nothing more than a snake oil salesman.

BUMP! 30 For 30 podcast's season Premere is out right now! It's about Juiced, that Jose Canseco book. It's a fun listen, as there are several chuckle-worthy moments, but the biggest takeaway I had from listening to the podcast was how bitter Jose Canseco was about his baseball career ending. It really sounded like the only reason he wrote "Juiced" was to get back at Major League Baseball (and Tommy Lasorda) for not having any room for a 39-year-old designated hitter who hadn't played in the bigs in three years. It came across to me as though if Lasorda had let Canseco down easier at that 2004 Dodgers tryout, then maybe Canseco doesn't have such a sour taste for how his baseball career ended and maybe he doesn't decide to exact his pound of flesh. Other than that, the most fascinating bit is just going back in time and remembering how enormously relevant "Juiced" was in our national conversation during the 2004-05 off-season. That book alone more than anything else seemed to steer the conversation about performance-enhancing drug use in baseball and the need for more stringent testing.

I always knew Bob Knight was an ass hole but goddamn how did you have evidence of him f***ing up horribly and instead of saying we will look into it, you shame the player

Also Knight was a god in Indiana. I still have to watch this, got it on my DVR. Sorry, new episode of Supernatural and Red Dead Redemption 2 took priority.

Though it is always crazy look back and see the reactions of the people of the time and how they were so gung ho in the opposite direction (obviously in hindsight)
The way they showed people reactions reminded me of the Duke Lacrosse 30 for 30

So telling that he still has an axe to grind against the people at IU for finally holding him accountable. That they welcome him back and he still feels victimized. What a miserable old bully. Then again, there's no punishment worse for him than having to live his life, being angry and miserable all the time. So in that way, I have closure. I also hope the people that were ok going on camera making death threats are able to look back shamefully and admit they were wrong and stupid.

The shit at the end where he’s talking to Dan Patrick and wishing death upon the people in IU who kicked me out was just a moment of Jesus Christ why would people even bother with this man
