He's everything that's wrong with 'comedic' wrestling booking. Something that'd raise a wry smile once, even twice - hell you might even tolerate it the seventh of eighth time you see it - gets exploited time and time again as if we're supposed to find it funny the eleventy-nine thousand times. It's like the 'comedy' TV commercials than run for 5 years and you think "Do they think we're STILL finding this funny?"
No disrespect to the man but if I ever see that character on TV again it'll be too soon. And what's the 'comedy' based on, that he's a dumb immigrant with a funny accent - oh that's very '2014' isn't it. They might as well go the whole hog and introduce a meddling jewish mother, effeminate gay son and a fat wife.
Just....stop. Retire. Become a road agent, learn to play the piano...just....stay away.

Screw it. Give him a thank you run with the world title. If there was still two or three world titles, I'd say yes. Hell, if he had won it in the Chamber in a fluke then dropped it back to Bryan in less than a minute the next night, I'd be cool with that. However, there's no way I'd ever want Santino as the sole champion. Especially now. I wouldn't mind Santino as the sole champion. He can have the belt, and guys like Cena, Lesnar, and maybe even Bryan once he has his proper run with the title can be "above" the belt and headline without it while WWE is free to give other guys their first run with the belt without any pressure of worrying about ratings, etc . Screw it. Give him a thank you run with the world title. Sure, if they bring out the WHC, I wouldn't mind seeing him with a "World title." But the Undisputed WWE Championship shouldn't be used for token thank you runs. Leave that to people that headline PPVs and draw money for extended periods of time. Imo, there's nothing wrong with the WWE Title being used for thank you runs once in a while. I personally think it's better that way. Giving someone a short transitional run with the belt that actually matters means more than having a second belt set aside for that specific purpose.

Belt should be for your top guys, and that's it. Giving everyone a run is why titles are so devalued now.

Belt should be for your top guys, and that's it. Giving everyone a run is why titles are so devalued now. Exactly. You have far too many people who have been thrust into a world title, demeaning the value. Hell, when Bryan had his big WM30 moment, he'd already held three WWE world titles because they throw the belt around far too liberally. The problem was also exacerbated by there at one point being three world titles (which now we're back down to one, will stop being a factor in about ten years). Thank you runs are fine if there's a proper build to his ascension and he'd been higher up the card during most of his career anyway (Savage's second reign, Foley, Backlund's second reign, Hogan's Undisputed reign, Shawn's WHC reign, Show's 2012 reign, Benoit's reign). However, if you give a thank you run to Santino, you may as well be giving Koko or the Bushwhackers the belt as well.

I don't consider HBK's WHC run as a "thank you run" since he went on to have a lengthy career after that point. Big Show shouldn't have gotten a "thank you reign" because he already had multiple runs with the belt. To me, thank you runs should be for "late bloomers" (like Mark Henry) or as a reward for guys who could've been champions in their prime, but sacrificed their prime putting others over (e.g. Kane). To me Santino deserves a thank you run because he has the ability to be a bigger star, but his talents were squandered in a comedy gimmick.

Squandered? Hell no, that dude had a great career BECAUSE of the comedy gimmick.
Otherwise, he'd have been a mediocre, easily replaceable dude.
Comedy was his niche&saving grace

Give him a Brett Favre gimmick. 'A lot of people say that AJ's no good, and that she slept with Punk, and Kane, and did Bryan, but she's an underrated wrestler. Santino Marella.'

Comedy was his niche&saving grace But he never really got to show what he was capable of as a worker because his matches always broke down into one big comedy spot. I feel that he was better than that.

I feel that he was better than that. See, I don't. The only other character he had was essentially a shrunken, less impressive Rusev with a cartoon accent. That wouldn't have gotten over to any degree, and he'd have been released years earlier. Comedy Santino is the best possible thing that could've happened to him.

How can you have unexpected broken bones in your neck? This worries me because I have been going through neck issues the entire last year. I've had X-rays and MRI scans, and I assume Santino also did those before surgery.

I hope the eventual tag team of him and Rusev has a tea party to make good for pissing off Devitt.
